The Rise of Skywalker: Episode IX Graflex

Screen Shot 2020-04-01 at 3.10.16 PM.png

Here's a closeup shot of a TROS Graflex. Probably the hero variant

To me it looks like those grips were painted and the paint it wearing off. You can see the base white/grey material as one fin is snapped then all the sharp edges look worn to that same material colour.

I said in the facebook group it looked like paint, and someone else replied with broken plastic, so...........................

The weld looks similar but not exactly like on the hero saber and the hero definitely doesn't have any fading grips! (Or at least not anymore)

Nice work identifying all this stuff, everyone.

Kahl I have been checking your site DAILY.
my wallet is ready.
I need one of these next to my vintage ANH.
Alpha and Omega.

So I've been collecting all kinds of references for the Skywalker Lightsaber, way back since the first trailer came out over a year ago, and I've been wanting to try and isolate some of the differences between each of the main ”hero" props from the movie, sort of like a personal project of interest really.

I feel like I have narrowed it down so far, that we have been shown at least two hero props. One is more prominent in the film (Hero #1), and the other is more prominent for display purposes (Hero #2). Originally I thought there might have been three hero props, but eventually found enough similarities to merge them. Now I must say that my research might not be entirely accurate, and I am fully open to discussion and describing my thoughts etc. This was just a personal project of mine, but wanting to share it with others and see what you think.

I also know for a fact there are plenty more versions of the hilt, FX with blade, rubber/plaster stunts (casts of the hero, which get painted) etc. But for this I wanted to try and focus on the hero props, although I've also included a few shots of the Launch Bay version, just for comparison.

Please find my PDF doc attached, I've tried to credit those for the pictures wherever possible, but some I couldn't so I do apologise. If anyone has any thoughts they'd like to add then please I'd love to hear them :)

Very well done research, thanks for sharing!
I just want to note that the Visual Dictionary one does not appear to be 'Hero Version 1.'
They are very close, but the gold trace on VD one comes up higher than Hero V1.

Roman said LFL purchased 4x of his replicas,
So I'm guessing there's 4+ versions in total between stunts and heroes.

Also like to note that I’d assume there’s more than just these two “hero” hilts used in the movie, but these are the main ones that we have references for, so that’s why I’m focusing on those.

They got 8 from roman, he sent 4, then they asked for 4 more

Thank you for the kind words! Yes I see what you mean, it is extremely close in other details though, just wish we had a full 360 shot! Haha.
Ah yes I do recall them purchasing 4 from Roman, I definitely believe there's more than these 2/3 for sure, but these are pretty much all the best/clear references we have of a couple of them, so just wanted to put them together in one place. Thanks for the feedback!

Ah actually I remember this in a thread on Facebook... I defiantly would think there's a handful of "hero" props, these are just 2 or 3 of them that we have best reference for so far.
