Very cool. I could be wrong -- it could be scaling artifacts, the way it was cutout and laid on a gray background, or something else -- but that actually feels more like a concept art composite/photobash to me than a photo of a real object.

Maybe the leather on the band just doesn't feel right to me, as it fades to black where the rest of the saber has a warm fill light on the lower side? And whatever caused that highlight on the end of that one piece of track doesn't seem to be affecting anything else -- it's not even reflecting off the tube right next to it. The burn/scarring feels like an overlaid texture too, with weird noise around it. The digital noise feels oddly inconsistent in general.

Am I off the mark?

I can see that you are evaluating this from an artists point of view Drew, great to hear from you mate and Happy New Year..

The reference I was given was sent very late in production and looking at the other pics I have (and have had to sign an NDA over), I believe that this is a physical prop that was created. The 'clamp' in all the pics looks like its made of a brushed aluminium and the leather is definitely an actual item and not a photoshopped addition.

I was assured that its the 'hero' but after viewing the movie I doubt that claim since the rivets in in the hilt in the movie did not appear to me to be the same as my reference material there are definately no smaller screws on the hilt.

I can only speculate from the one image you posted in the last thread, but what you posted looks like it's a 3D render of the prop and not an actual photo of it.

It's all new (as far as I can see and have heard).

Roman has said on FB, that he supplied a handful of his replicas to Pinewood. I'm guessing they will be used for the touring props

Yep, been confirmed for a while that they were used in actual filming. Cheaper to source too

That image of the horizontal saber certainly looks odd, and in answer to a previous point, the leather was brown leather, not dyed and certainly not vinyl.

I guess I could go for one now and just hold tight for a clamp, they're on your site already right?

So what is this "display saber?" Where is it found? Do they have a prop on display somewhere and it's utilizing your card? Maybe in Launch Bay?
