The Rise of Skywalker: Episode IX Graflex

Nope not upholstery nails. Original picture is clearer and shows slotted screws

Is anyone planning to do a run of this Episode 9 clamp or completed hilt? Romans Empire ?

I had planned on it a long time ago, but the sample clamp I made had some wobble between the top & bottom halves that I couldn't quite eliminate. I'm pretty sure I have the solution, but won't be able to make another sample until the shops are back to normal in about two weeks.

It looks like they masked the saber and dyed the leather brown after it was on the saber. You can see where some of the brown dye made it past the leather. I wonder if it was just a black vinyl they used, painted brown.

I saw the movie a second time and I noticed there are a lot of scenes where Rey is using the lit/bladed stunt saber and the end cap is visible and you can see 2 holes where the d-ring had been riveted, they didn’t cover the holes when they removed the kobold clip.

Do we know why the VD saber seems to have real rivets connecting the clamp to the top/bottom and the LFL image shows false rivets?

To me this graflex represents JJ's attempt at fixing Rian's horrific second act to the ST. It just proves that you cant put a band-aid on an amputation and expect it to look the same.
I hear ya brother!

Just got my new prosthetic leg last week, so this thing is taking longer to grow back than they told me it would.

Well if it's the VA helping you don't count on it growing back! Lol jk btw
Don't want to derail, but I had a bone issue that kept recurring, so I chose to have the leg removed. Wasn't a military thing. I always want to clear that up.

I tried to get in but was disqualified due to other medical stuff, but I'm proud to say my son's a Marine. I always say that I couldn't be one, but I gave the Corps the raw material they needed to make one. Lol

Now back to sabers.;)(y)

Are sure those are holes? The stunt sabers do han antenna on the bottom.

Sorry to hear that. Still unfortunate none the less.

I did 12 years in the Marines myself so that's great to hear. Tell your son Semper Fi!

Interesting...
This is part of one of the reference pics I received directly from Lucasfilm when I was working on the Rise of Skywalker project for them.

Very cool. I could be wrong -- it could be scaling artifacts, the way it was cutout and laid on a gray background, or something else -- but that actually feels more like a concept art composite/photobash to me than a photo of a real object.

Maybe the leather on the band just doesn't feel right to me, as it fades to black where the rest of the saber has a warm fill light on the lower side? And whatever caused that highlight on the end of that one piece of track doesn't seem to be affecting anything else -- it's not even reflecting off the tube right next to it. The burn/scarring feels like an overlaid texture too, with weird noise around it. The digital noise feels oddly inconsistent in general.

Am I off the mark?
