The Rise of Skywalker: Episode IX Graflex

If I’m reading correctly:

Option 1: fully assembled saber, everything included and all parts attached to the Graflex ready to display for $199

Option 2: all the parts of the kit (all 6 grips metal/plastic, clamp with activation box and leather, circuit card, rivets, and bottom tube not assembled for $149 (no Graflex top included)

If these are the only options I’d take Option 1

I would be be in for option 2. And if they sell out and you do a kit only version, I would be in for at least one if not two more.

So, as per the latest update video, the Option 1 would be like 90% assembled. Meaning that the leather is not glued on for you. It's pre-cut, but the user will have to glue on themselves. The magnets are not installed. The bottom caps are not installed. The clamp card is not installed. The dummy rivets on the clamp and grips are not installed either. So there is still a wee bit of work that the user needs to to do. I will be selling them with the grips put on perfectly spaced, belt clip fastened, cinner and outer clamp sleeve attached with the control box on. Attached to the upper. That would be option 1.

Option 2 is basically all of the parts of the conversion kit loose. So the user assembles it all. Excluding the upper parts of the Graflex. Essentially a conversion kit only.

100$ for your graflex replica that you will call «grade B » ?

Yes, I'll sell the Grade B full 3 Cell Replica Flashguns for $100.

What does Grade B mean? In my case, the Grade B refers to the fact the red buttons do not sit perfectly parallel to the shoulder of the Graflex upper shell. Hardly noticeable to be honest and people have even told me that their vintage Graflex is like that. Either way, I wanted it perfectly parallel but it wasn't. If you go to my YouTube channel 'KR Sabers' and watch the latest update videos, I explain a bit more in detail.

It also means that there may be some small nicks and dings here and there, but honestly nothing major. For me as I a designer, it's VERY annoying when something doesn't come out perfectly as you planned, but I have shown the Graflex to some people already and they think I am crazy for considering them Grade B over such minor things. But making a Graflex on your own dime is HARD! Much harder than I anticipated.

Regardless, I will make videos about this in more detail and ensure everyone knows what they're getting before buying :)

Thanks for being so accommodating, Khal! Do you have an idea when they will go up for sale?

Trying ASAP. As you know, running The Saber Armory, is a 24/7 operation pretty much. However, I might create the listing this week, as an out of stock product, just so people can add their email to the stock notification list. Then when they're in stock, people get the email right away.

Just to put things into perspective, look at the site traffic jump in the last 2 months...it's not even end of Jan yet!

230,913 site visits this month so far, when I'm used to 60-75k vists per month.

Also, I hope I'm not thread hijacking here RPF admins? If I need to start a new thread for conversations about this, please let me know. I still consider myself an RPF newb! :p

Well, I think that is good idea and it’s going to sell fast!

OK, well, I think the solution is pretty clear and easy to be honest. I'll probably make a video update about this too as it'll be easier to reach people. Since I am not so active on the RPF, I'm not as 'clued up' on how the community likes things etc. So, I'll happily make an effort to please everybody!

How does this sound?

So far, I have assembled about 220 bottoms out of the 400 Graflex parts I have. So, what I'll do is stop when I get to 250 and keep those to one side. Then, I'll leave 100 of them all totally unassembled. No grips attached; no belt clip attached etc. Then I'll add the listing to the store and have simple drop down for ordering.

1. Assembled Option (Full unit) $199.00

2. Unassembled Option Conversion Parts Only $149.00 (this was always going to be the original price of the full kit anyway)

Option 2 would exclude the upper assembly and I can add those back to the disassembled 3 Cell Flashguns and sell the complete Grade B flashguns for like $100 or something?

Does this sound like a good idea guys? If everyone could comment and let me know if they like this idea that would be great.

I just want to try and please everybody. Hopefully those who know me know that I just want to make sure everyone is happy and that they are excited for these!

Khal

Well I'm in for option 1 when they become available Khal :)

"You're killing me, Smalls" (khal1993 )!! :p So you are going to do the kits after-all? I keep telling my shop the clamp project is on/off/on...lol!!! I'll probably end up with my own clamp sample, but if you are back to offering the kits I'll likely just pick one (some) up from you. (y)

Yes, I will be doing the kits. I was always going to do the kits. The only thing that changed for like a couple weeks was that they would include the upper assembly.

Now that is going to be an option for the customers. A conversion kit only, or, a kit with upper assembly for full replica.

So Romans made the flash and KR it sounds like has accuracy for every other part? Just trying to keep this straight... I imagine the real thign wasnt a vented bottom tube with a cover.

Kylash - correct. If you get the full KR kit there's a cover for the bottom too.

My plan is the KR conversion kit with the Romans gen2 flash, which should be about as accurate as you can get to on-screen.
