Okay, so continuing the "insane laser cut acrylic parts" detour - this is the last of it. These will also be free files I will upload, so you can do this to your PD if you wish. After this update, everything else is putting resin to resin and cutting brass tubes, so we're nearing the home stretch, in a way!
I added a mount to the bottom of the bottom body part (pics coming tomorrow) so those are the bolts you're seeing... anyway, I decided to grind/cut off the equatorial disc, as it wasn't 100% flat.
I replaced it with acrylic of the same thickness:
I then thought "hey - why not inset a similar disc in the body's other half, so that I can weld-on 3 them together, and ensure the whole trench is straight and true!". SO that's what I did.
Same diameter hole makes lining these two up a cinch.

Currently sanding and cleaning the join lines with liberal gobs of Apoxie Sculpt.
It really makes the assembly clean and easy...
