Interest The Pink Panther "DIAMOND"!!! Hand-Carved Crystal Glass w/ 3D Laser Etched Panther!!!

Sorry, I made a little joke.

Since new details keep getting added, the confusion over what is getting done gets muddied.

So I expressed the opinion that if I had to settle for a real diamond, that it would be an acceptable substitute.

drusselmeyer Ah, got it. No worries, I'm sometimes slow on the pick-up.

Hope my post doesn't add confusion. The options should still be the same as RelicMaker last listed, though they've definitely shifted a fair bit over the past week or so. I was surprised by the sudden turnaround in offering both CZ and Glass, rather than one or the other.

I did briefly consider suggesting the possibility of moissanite, which I hadn't previously heard of, but it costs ~10x CZ, so that's sadly a nonstarter.

These are the only options...

"Clear" Cubic Zirconia (No Inclusion & Movie Accurate) - $150

"Clear" Crystal Glass (No Inclusion & Movie Accurate) - $85

"Pink" Crystal Glass w/ Panther Inclusion - $90

Hey RelicMaker, I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet:

Trail & Curse screenshot_sm.png

Despite practically wearing out my family's tapes of Pink Panther through Revenge growing up, I never got around to either of the post-Sellers's-death 80s sequels – Trail of the Pink Panther (1982) and Curse of the Pink Panther (1983).

For anyone similarly unfamiliar, the plot of the two films (which were shot concurrently, apart from previously-unused Sellers footage) revolved in-part around yet another theft of the diamond, seemingly reusing the Returns-style prop.

It appears pink here due to lighting (heist scene on YouTube), as other brief appearances show it to be colorless (reveal scene on YouTube).

Does that look like the same cut to you?

Just to clarify: The original Pink Panther was part of a necklace, seen only in the first movie The Pink Panther. Then, the PP diamond changes to a stand-alone, unmounted diamond and is seen in 3 movie sequels: Return, Trail & Curse, right? So this is a prop replica seen in 3 movies?

That at least seems so. I figure RelicMaker probably has a better eye for recognizing subtleties in gem cuts.

The Christie's prop consignor was production designer on all the PP films from 1975's Return through 1993's Son, so it makes sense.

Might've been nice for the listing to mention later reuse, but prop auction listings in general have a frustrating tendency of highlighting a prop's most popular film appearance to the exclusion of less popular appearances, and neither Trail nor Curse were much beloved by fans.

Here's another shot from Curse:

UPDATE:
Here's a 3D video of the Pink Crystal Glass w/ Inclusion!
 (y)

Fantastic! Great job capturing the details of the original prop! Ok, now put me down for one CZ and TWO pink glass with inclusions. (Going to gift one to my wife!) Please keep us up to date on the manufacturing status. Excellent work!

Fantastic! Thanks for the update. I'd also like to know more about the process...who manufactures custom CZ & glass designs? What equipment do they use? How did you develop the capability to utilize their manufacturing capabilities? Are the factories in the USA, UK, etc.? Not looking for trade secrets or anything like that...just curious as to how these are made. Again, many thanks!

They're being made oversees and that's all you need to know...;)

Here's a video they sent me of them using the laser on one of their projects.
