The PEPAKURA question thread - PLEASE READ RULES IN FIRST POST!

does anyone on here have that Nova helmet file that was around here about a year ago, ive been trying to track it down for about a week and keep hitting dead ends

Then when I unfold it, it creates this mirror pattern for this one side. I added the green line so you could see how it's mirrored:
...

And it does this for every piece so I have to cut each one in half! Any help/suggestions are really appreciated.

Looks like you have modeled both sides or extruded the box or... or... or...

If you can, then you should post the 3D file so we can have a look at it.

I have a strange problem. When I go to print the IM helmet file from ,Robo's set, some of the pieces print out of line or parts of the line are simply not there. Here's a pic to better illustrate the problem.

Has anyone had this problem? Or does anyone have a solution? I have printed other files before with no problems. I don't know whats going on with this one and it's driving me crazy.

Any help would be appreciated

hey folks I was wondering if someone could help me out. I got this idea about an Army of Two helmet based on the Rios Army of two mask. I'm not good at making pep files so I tried making it myself. I spliced the rios mask with the RYU helm (Kamen Rider) base.

Here is what it looks like. Still wip.

so I was wondering if anyone could help me out with making the pep file and smoothing it out.

here are some pics from pep files i used.

The Rios mask

the RYU helm. I couldnt do it on pep, but you have to remove the visor(?) part and underneath is the helmet i used.

this is what it looks like when you take off the visor(?)

Also I was thinking of making it so I can flip up the front part like the Iron Man helmet. Or just make it a two piece so it would work like a Power Ranger helmet.

If you need the files let me know.
I know this might be asking a lot but any help would be great. Thanks.

PS. dabiddabird Please tell me there is a pep file for that helmet.... Is there?

Re: iron man pep question

Aquaresin and Aquaglass are the main nontoxic solutions I hear, but some people have had great results using the simplest solution of all: Paper Maché.

Good luck.

Is that the same as Jesmonite? Water-based fiberglass resin.

So I'm about to get supplies to resin/fiberglass the inside of my fett helmet pep, does anyone have a rough estimate as to how much resin and fiberglass I'm approximately going to need and what kind?

Are you gonna JUST make the helmet and not the other Fett armor parts?

If JUST for the helmet(inside & outside) I'd say 2 litres/Kg of resin. Not sure about others but I usually don't use fiberglass on my helmets, just resin. And auto putty on top of that for smoothing/detailing.

Resin-soaked-paper is stronger than you think. Don't forget, you have resin inside, outside, and then bondo/auto putty on top of that.

No harm adding fiberglass if you want, but I personally have never found it necessary.

I picked up all the stuff I think I'll need, I won't open the fiberglass cloth until after i've resined the inside and outside though just in case I am happy with it at that point! Thanks for your help!

Here's the million dollar question, that I've literally combed the web looking for any answers or guidance on:

Has anyone done a pep Loki helmet from Thor? I found 1 file and to be honest, I don't think it's unfolded properly because it's a BEAST to cut out and attempt to put together. HELP!!

Thanks!

I need help from one who is good in Modeling and Pepakura. Because i have a Pep file that is very complicated and i want do do it so much.

i hope someone can help me.

I'd just like to say how much of a help this thread (as well as the rest of this forum) has been, and I haven't even started making my costume yet!

I've always been interested and amazed in other costumes people have made, but thought those kind of things were impossible for someone like me to do. But well.. to cut a LONG story short I figured I've got nothing stopping me but myself. This thread and whole forum has already taught me so much, and I can't wait to get started on my costume and share the progress with y'all!

Thanks a bunch guys!

Is there any way to clean brushes between layers of fiberglass resin, or do you have to kiss one goodbye with each use?

pep files replicas??

hi guys, can someone explain me something? didn't found nothing on the board:confused if i use a pep file for building a replica can i sell it,giving the propper credit to the author and ask his permission?i mean, using the pep file base. on other forums they told me there is no problem because is a personal creation when you build something but i want to know how is?

cheers
