THE PACIFIC : Official discussion thread.

Speaking of meat grinding...at least they didn't have any nudity last night. I have been watching this with my mom...and frankly, there is nothing more unnerving and creepy when some broad drops her clothes and lets the ladies hang out when Mom's in the room. Then of course they start bumpin' uglies.

What the hell did they feel the need to put that in there for? Like BoB, this could have had the potential to "bring to life" the war for the younger generation. Would have been good to show in HS classes. But you can't do that with this.

I loved the look on Leckie's face when he was told he needed to go back for a Corpsman and a radio. "You want me to do WHAT?"

:lol I usually go watch it with my dad on Sunday so it's not quite as bad. I remember an interview with Dick Winters where he said he argued against the nudity scene in BoB because he wanted school kids to be able to watch it.

It's hilarious. You can have people being bayoneted, shot and beaten to death... but not a sex scene?

And remember, there was a sex scene in Band of Brothers.

Absolutely you can't have a sex scene!!! Not while I'm trying to spend some time with my dear ole mum!

But to the larger point...why do they feel the need for the nudidity? There are ways of showing a man and woman getting it on...leave a little to the mystery for goodness sake. And why do movie makers feel the need to put stupid love stories in a good war flick anyway? I can rent porn if I want to see that.

I do remember that sex scene in BoB now. Wasn't real fond of that either. Yes, it was funny...but what point did it serve other than to show some...I would say nice...fun bags flopping around. I guess my point is, BoB and The Pacific (which is getting better) are the types of movies a history teacher should show to Juniors or Seniors. With the sex crap...not so much.
