That's a very detailed and impressive set piece. I was lucky enough to have stood on that set and had my picture taken standing next to it. :)

I only wish they could have built a similar set piece for the (small style) shuttle I designed that never got built due to budget constraints.

Hello Charles! Its Troy from the Sci-Fan club. That would have been cool....I read where a person who sall the Raptor on the deck set said it looked as if it could fly and it looked very expensive....I wonder what will happen to it?

To me.. the color of the 'set' Raptor looks very close to a very light olive drab?

Is there an SF color would you choose for it at 1/24 scale, I really want to stay with Model Master acrylics....I have had good luck with that brand.

if you dont' want to go into the html or anything... Sometimes Windows XP automatically "unlocks" protected pictures.

If you move your cursor over a picture sometimes a icon from windows will pop up in the top left hand corner. Just click save.

If they come out with High Rez porn....I don't wanna know...there are just some things that should never be seen up close with that much clarity.:sick.....or maybe I should say some 'people's' bits.

Are there other sites out there that have GOOD BSG set photos...I looked around but a person can spend hours on the net doing so. I'm trying to spend more time at the bench than at the keys just yapping about building models.

Hi-Rez bits, is already out there. Yeah, it's kinda TMI. Close your eyes and say. "la, la, la, la... " :confused

But when it comes to BSG hi-rez, can never get enough!

If you are looking for something specific shoot me a PM and I can see what I have.

CHARLES!!! :eek You absolutely MUST show us that photo! That had to be VERY kewl indeed! :love I am soooooo jealous my friend! Even though that is a set prop, that is still way kewl! The Raptor is one of my favs! :cool

Couldn't agree more. I can't wait to get further on my build....right now its just the body with no wings or engines...not that exciting.

I'm completely re-building the doorway edges and adding the red lights that run along the edges as well using led's....pics soon.

Well, that was like 3 or 4 years ago. I couldn't visit the set during filming of the miniseries because I had back surgery right after I finished the design work for the Mk II Shuttle. I did get to visit during filming of Season One the following summer. (In fact, it was the episode where Starbuck crashed on a planet and had to fly home in a raider -- they had just built the raider and I saw it on set. It was all top secret at the time.)

I just can't explain how impressive these sets were. All were 360-degree constructions. They had walls on all sides, a floor, and a ceiling. Walking through the corridors was like being on the "real" ship if it existed. It was better than something at a theme park like Disney, let me tell you. :)

The sets took up three huge soundstages. The first building had the corridors and Adama's office (I sat at his desk, you wouldn't believe all the detailed set dressing they had). The second building had Colonial One and the CIC. CIC has two levels including a gallery above and is jammed full of real equipment just like the TOS bridge set. Colonial One had "wild" walls that were moved during filming. The seats were leather recliners. (In fact, you could see the recline handles in the miniseries! These were later removed for Season One.)

The third building held the massive hangar set with not one but two full-size Viper Mk IIs, a Mk VII, the Raptor, and the then-secret Raider. The Raider was built quite small. It was much smaller than a "real" ship would have been. I guess that's typical because it saves money. Forced perspective and all that.

Anyway, the color of the Raptor was brown/bronze. IIRC, it had a metallic tint to it. The sets were not well lit unless they were filming, so the pics required a flash. I wouldn't necessarily rely on them for color reference. I'd think you could do well using screencaps from the show instead.

Hope that helps! :)

The pics could be better and my camera doesn't like 'RED' lights no matter what kind of setings or lighting I use ...but hey its 5 years old.

I am 98% done with the new scratch built door trim w/ lights. In all there are three parts that fit togther very snug and basically I just replaced the top ceiling part #19 and Door part #18. The paint is metalizer Magnesium.

That's amazing. :thumbsup I hope you're step by step documenting the entire build!
