The New Captain America.

Look, if you are a company trying to cast the biggest net to make maximum dollars, I see the point of being racially/gender PC (not that I necessarily agree with it).

Why all the white hate? Being that comics are a fictional world, I say you can create whatever you please, but that should work both ways. If you want to have an all female Avengers, or all black Fantastic Four, then whatever. Conversely, if you want to have an all white universe...then whatever! Comic books do not have or need to reflect a world you live in...because they are just stories which you can chose to read or not.

Sure they COULD. But Marvel has chosen that they don't want to create that world.

Profit motive isn't the only reason to be more representative. Go listen to Kevin Smith's Fat Man on Batman episodes where he talks to Neal Adams. Sometimes artists and creators are tired of the crappy status quo and want to evolve the world through their art.

One other thing. There's no white hate here. None. There's no us vs them. Nobody -- NOBODY -- loses anything by this.

I suspect the rairity of Asian superheroes could have more to do with some artists finding it difficult to draw Asians without them looking like offensive caricatures.

Gonna have to give you partial credit for Psylocke; an English woman's mind in an Asian woman's body.

That may be part of it but I also feel that the larger part of it is because as a group Asians are still the quiet minority and don't bring attention to ourselves, at times to our own detriment. On the other hand, blacks and hispanics have been far more vocal and are far more difficult to overlook and have a lot more representation out there to keep it that way. So it's a lot easier to represent blacks and hispanics in media because the studios are more aware of them and get more bang for their buck, so to speak, by their casting and, in some cases, retconning or recasting.

I have a love / hate relationship with Marvel comics that goes back to the Dark Phoenix Saga and X-Factor #1 with leaving heroes and villains dead.

That being said, the whole female Thor doesn't really bother me provided that the story about her worth to wield Mjolnir is well written.

Even Cap has wielded Mjolnir, thus making him a god / Thor for a short time.
