The Names of the Falcon

No, not the aliases under which the Millennium Falcon is supposed to have flown. But simply and quite literally the names inscribed on the models.

Basically because the discussion came up recently about the five footer's names I thought it'd be useful to have a documented record of where the names are written on the 32" and five foot models. Because I've seen talk about the names, but never any actual list of them. The decal database for the five footer is the closest thing I've seen.

So I've made a user-editable page for anyone to update. Additional data/corrections appreciated! Thanks. :)

The page won't let me edit, but the Jon Edlund name is on the bottom of the boarding ramp near the brownish square panel with the four black squares.

Thanks! Updated.

You should be able to edit the document - you have to click the link at the bottom of the spreadsheet view.

That should be Richard Edlund.

You're correct that the name on the model is "Jon Erland" not Jon Edlund. I had to blow up the name a bit more.

Yes, the name on the side of the boarding ramp is very hard to read in all the reference photos I’ve seen. But it’s Jon Erland the model builder, not Richard Edlund the visual effects man.

The thing about Mary Lind's name being scratched off: This is speculation on my part, but the reason her name was so intentionally removed could have something to with its placement on the more visible side of the cockpit cone. In TESB, there are a couple shots (two in the asteroid cave and the shot of the Falcon hovering under Cloud City to rescue Luke) where the camera is fairly close to the cockpit and holds the shot for a few seconds. In planning those shots, the crew could've scratched out her name just to make sure it wasn't visible on a big screen (or in publicity photos). The chance that someone could've seen and read it was certainly small, but it might've been a "better safe than sorry" decision. If Lind didn't work at ILM after the company moved to San Rafael, it might've been seen as no big deal to remove her name for the sake of the shots. Had her name been in a less conspicuous place, it might still be there. Again, just speculation.
