The Mummy 25th Anniversary Showing

The 1999 version of "The Mummy" is getting an official 25th Anniversary re-release this month.

I think it'd be pretty cool to show up cosplaying to a screening of it.

I'm in the LA area but haven't heard of any official events for it other than the film being run in theaters again.

Anyone here got any better word on this?

I'd love to see a sequel..
Maybe glossing over 3 and seeing him as... Oh I've just asked for Dial of Destiny

The beauty of technology is I can now watch it on a better screen with better sound at home.
Some of these cinemas need a kick up the ass but that's another thread in itself.

Love BF those movies were such a romp!

This isn't about any sequel.

It's about showing the original 1999 film in theaters again this month.

And I'm hoping there's some "Mummy" fans to gather at a particular theater to see it all in costume!

Yeah I know, just voicing a want :)

IMO the question of a new movie depends on how well Brendan Frasier can be physically tuned back up. Today he is only 55 years old but he doesn't even resemble the guy in the first two movies.

The other major players are all still around and presentable. BF's son from the 2nd movie is an adult and he could take over some of the action work. Or they could recast that role with a new actor because he was a child the last time we saw him.

The timeline would put them in the early 1950s now. IMO they could push it back as far as WW2 with mild de-aging work. It wouldn't be wise to go any earlier for a couple of reasons. But the 1940s should be early enough to keep the mojo of the first two movies.

To be clear, I'm ignoring everything after the first two movies here. No 'Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' from 2008 or anything.

So, does anyone here know of any cosplay get togethers to watch the 25th Anniversary re-release?
