The latest addition to my Star Trek collection ... only 12 feet long

Thanks again! The only other "large" Trek screen used fixtures in my collection are an Enterprise E Bridge console used in the last three feature films with the TNG cast; and a portion of the NX-01 Bridge wall console from Star Trek: Enterprise ...

Very Best,
Gerald

And I am very happy that I could be the guy who keeps supplying Gerald with all this cool stuff.

Gerald has been very helpful whenever we have needed to authenticate TOS items, and we have become good friends. It is nice when I can help friends in the hobby get items they love.

And especially when I don't have the room for them!

Alec

How do I get in the loop when something like this comes up for sale?

Alec, in addition to being the C.E.O. of Propworx, is the Star Trek Archivist with CBS/Paramount and came across the saucer in storage in a CBS warehouse / storage facility. He posted an article about its availability at his outstanding blog site : The Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Blog

Just keep monitoring the blog posts. And, of course, other fine pieces of memorabilia come up for auction frequently at the major auction houses like Propworx and Profiles In History.

I have been very fortunate to acquire some of my favorite Star Trek collectibles from Alec and Propworx!

Gerald

I never would have assumed that saucer survived after shooting day?? Surprises me they not only saved it but that it's in such good condition. Lucky you, Gerald.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank you for your great TOS prop site. I've spent hours and hours there in the past 6 months. It was really "fascinating" (sorry, couldn't resist) seeing all those rare set pictures.

It's been a great resource for my full scale Mr. Spock's Science Station build.

:thumbsup

Am I the only person that is saying that would make an Awesome Dining Room Table when looking at that Saucer Section.... :)

Love it...

Thanks again, folks.

Hi Jon:
The saucer model was very solidly built - primarily of wood with an outer fiberglass surface and lots of artistic detail. It also incorporated internal lighting ... as seen in some of the detailed photos of it on my site when it was on the model mover at the ILM studios. So, even though it was created for just the landing sequence in that one film; it evidently was built to last, LOL!

Thanks for your kind words about my site. I have been a Star Trek fan all of my life (as long as I can remember, at least!) and it truly is a "labor of love" for me to work on the site. It's always great to hear that fellow fans find some of the content enjoyable.

Best of luck on your Science Station build project.

Very Kind Regards,
Gerald

speechless, it's a Trek museum!

Thanks ecl!

Here are some photos of one of my favorite TOS items in my collection. To my astonishment this morning -- the photos of it that I placed in a different thread yesterday night have been greeted with very kind sentiments and congratulations; as opposed to the skepticism that I was anticipating due to the very controversial nature of authenticating TOS props. I myself am absolutely confident that it is an authentic midgrade TOS phaser ...

Absolutely not doubt that one is indeed real. That piece would be the pride of most any collection. Again, congrats!

Strangely enough I already have all of these photos and many more from the same photo shoot in my database.

Many thanks, Will! I am truly so thrilled to have it in my collection.

And yes, the photos posted here today were taken from a larger set of 33 different ones that I originally published on my site back in March of 2010. That complete set of images can be accessed at this link:

Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Authority: Special PhotoStudy: Star Trek The Original Series 3rd Season Midgrade Type II Phaser

That is likely where your reference set, at some point, originated from.

Very Best,
Gerald

Many thanks, harpo568!

Here's some more of my favorite possessions from TOS ... some original U.S.S. Enterprise Bridge buttons, obtained from a recent Profiles In History auction. While it's not possible to be entirely certain; several of them possess a remarkable likeness to some buttons seen at Mr. Spocks Science Station consoles ...

Holy smokes! I tip my hat to you sir! You have made the universe that much more AWESOME.

Here's another pic showing the other Nacelle on display inside my home. It's just outside a room containing my full scale partial TOS Bridge replica (a project that spanned the last 12 years or so; characterized by long breaks between periods of heightened activity.)

Here's a link to a post on my site with many more images of the simulated Bridge environment: Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Authority: Simulated Bridge Environment Update III
