I know someone has identified the flashlight and the toy blaster use to make this prop. Can someone refresh my memory?

thanks

thomas;)

You mean these parts? :)

The flashlight is called First Alert Ready-Lite Series 101. They turn up on ebay from time to time.

The grip is indeed from a "Galactronic Gun" toy blaster.

On the back of the Lassetter are 4 square pushbuttons (UNIMEC) and a red 3 digit 7 segment display.

Check out the Firefly Archive for a couple of nice pictures of the gun.

I just completed my Lassiter build. It was a lot of fun but not now will be proudly displayed with my Firefly collection. Thank goodness I found a fellow Browncoat who made a kit for several of the parts. This saved me time and turned out fantastic Group shot med.jpg

I really need to build one of these. I've had the flashlight rolling around for a few years and I have a friend with the grip; I've just been putting it off.

Yes I would prefer the real parts

so did you build yours or still have the stuff to do so?

I still have all the parts, but as with so many things I haven't gotten around to building it. (I have a replacement Vera to finish as well.) One thing I was planning was to 3d model and print a new grip that will fit the flashlight right away, since the original didn't straight-up use the toy grip, but as casting of one.

Oh, who offered the add-on parts? I've been waiting for someone to offer machined parts for years and was thinking of drawing them up and getting them done myself after I finish the reprogrammer...

Well, I've been offering plastic kit parts for years now but I doubt anyone would do them in metal at a cost that people would be willing to pay. Firefly collecting is pretty much dead aside from a small handful of people and by now, most that want the more common props already have them, aside from a metal Mal pistol that always seems to be fairly viable. The Lassiter parts themselves (aside from the handle) are extremely simple but break them down into machining time at maybe $70-90 per hour and all of a sudden you're breaking the $1K barrier. I still want to do the Sonic Rifle and I'll get around to it eventually.

That is where I got my parts, from Joatrash FX and they fit perfectly.
On the grips I used for mine, which is pretty much the same gun as the Galactronic Gun: Spacetronic Space Series TG-105 Super Electronic Gun Laser Ray
The grips come right off then remove lower knob and fill the hole. The worst part is the owner didn't understand why I wanted the gun, It worked, I mean perfectly and the box in great condition. So off came the grip and the rest went on shelf.
