The Hobbit: Deed of Contract

I decided to make a full scale replica of the Deed of Contract from The Hobbit to accompany my Red Book. It's printed on a parchment-textured heavy-weight paper, hand-torn edges lightly heat aged, a little coffee sprayed on for extra coloring, hand-stitched with twine and sealed with red wax.

The paper and twine used is a little darker than the original (as is the edge aging) as I wanted an older look to better match my heavily-aged Red Book of Westmarch. It's a neat prop and quite a fun read.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

It's ink-jet printed on parchment, and then aged and stitched together? Or the paper aged before being printed? Or laser-jet printed and then aged and stitched?

Actually the scan isn't mine to share, I got it from someone else. I'll notify them of this thread, and leave it up to them.

A question: Is it life-sized, or over-sized? A lot of people get the prop scaling mixed up when it comes to LotR and Hobbit stuff. However big it looked in Martin Freeman's hands, you'd have to make it smaller in real life for accurate scaling.

My sizing is based on the measurements listed on Weta's site... which I'm guessing is the same as the original prop.

Wow! Amazing work! I'm sure you could hardly tell the difference with the Weta replica (Save the fact, that, for the most part each of them are hand crafted). I plan on getting the noble version, as weta is WAY out of my price range.

I am interested in the scan too, could you ask your friend? :)

Have you considered to make a contract prop copy for sale? It would be a nice thing beside the crap noble collection print and the expensive weta one.

Because WETA and Noble sell their contract, I don't think he will sell a copy... Copyright and this stuff... ;)

I don't like the contract of noble collection, it's too glossy and all printed, no authentic feeling you know what I mean and weta's is so cool but sooooo expensive and there is now other third option in the middle, one better than noble's but cheaper than weta's. So Indy's version would be a nice 3rd option and he does some real quality stuff.
