The Force Awakens Stormtrooper Electrostaff

What's the source on the multiple versions (I really want to see this, not questioning you)? :)

I'd imagine that the combat/stunt version was a solid piece. It's usual that rubberised versions of props are made up for repeated contact.

There's the one from the visual dictionary, then there's this:

I've also read from other builders who have seen the film multiple times (to look at details specifically) saying how some areas of the baton seem to change in some scenes like a "black dot/screw" missing on the main body (particularly the one nearest the end spike).
Personally, I'm not completely dismissing the possibility that the arm deployment scene may be in fact CG. That coupled with the fact that we haven't seen the actual prop laid out, much less doing the thing it's famous for.

I completely agree that it is likely CGI when it swings-out... It's super-fast and all that lightning had to be rendered anyway.

I didn't notice any lighting/glow from the baton, so I'm guessing that the stunt prop didn't light-up either, but my memory isn't great on that front. I need to re-check for FX.

Being the case, any detailing as seen in the books, etc. could simply be reinforcements or arbitrary detailing. It's not certain. As with the lightsabers, I guess there are always multiple versions. :)
