The stones in the photos on my site are units produced by Paul Francis. They were supposedly cast from screen-used originals. The dental stone reproductions I offered awhile back were cast from molds off the Francis stones.

The HGC stones look an awful lot like the Paul Francis units.

Agreed - pretty darn close.

Would be interesting to know if HCG used the screen-used stones or not.

Hello Grae,

The stones and statue as what I know, are cast from the original screen used prop as are our other replica movie props. I can tell you that the stones are Polyresin and this entire set will weigh in total around 12 to 13 lbs.

Thanks for posting those comparison pics. Looks cool.

BUT, the only thing we can say for sure is that the stones offered by HCG match the lineage of the stones offered by Phil/Paul.

What I am not convinced of is if they are from screen used stones. I recall a few years ago we went through that exercise, and nothing matched up between the paul stones and the on screen. There's a chance I'm remembering this wrong, but who knows.

Anyone have screen caps handy??

I should add in that *I* am about to order a set of the HCG stones. THey look VERY nice, I like the overall packaging of the product, and I've got to assume that they eliminted the non-trivial "wonk" that was present in each of the stones I purchased from the Phil/Paul set (or recasts thereof, I cannot say for sure)

I recently found a massive cache of screencaps, so I will go through then (about 4000 images) and get them. I have most of the end sequence stones saved, just need to go through the intro and the Diva scene and I will post them

These stones have popped up on Ebay. Do a search for "HCG The 5th Fifth Element Stones". Seller's name is Secret Compass.

I can't see the auction you specify (I'm not sure if it's because I'm unable to access it from eBay Australia), but I can see through a Google search that they are an authorised HCG dealer.

I'm concerned that the Wind stone is upside down. I would have thought it to be a photo error, but the tops of all the stones seem to be rounded rather than flush, so if you turned the wind stone right side up, it wouldn't stand upright.

Or am I just a noob and am missing something?

edit. Okay they don't look rounded in some other pictures, it's just the angle messing with the triangular shape.

Still, why did they photograph it upside down? "Earth, Water, Water, Fire!"

I don't think they have rounded tops/bottoms (but I can see what you mean, as some photos have that look), but yeah, whoever set up the photos didn't put the "Air" stone the right way up.
