The Fifth Element - Ruby Rhod's Mic

I received the book about a week or so ago, and while the book was in fantastic condition and for a great price; I couldn't find any info on the mic. :unsure

Although, it has some great shots of the paper props. Doesn't help this thread much, though.

Everytime I think of Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod I think of Little Richard for some reason

The placement of the dragons heads and that they all appear to be attached to a bar or series of smaller bars makes me thing it's some sort of ornate wind instrument.

Wind instruments are not my forte, but those sure as hell look like valves to me.

Any one of these valves could have been wired to turn on the light, and additionally, the convenient hole in the end of a wind instrument would be perfect for mounting said light behind the ruby that makes up the end of the mic.

I still think it looks like the bowl of one of those pewter fantasy chalices with some ornament stuck in the top. 2 cents

Here's the best caps I could get (if anyone else can get better, please feel free to chime-in). It looks like it has an on/off switch for the red light, I just can't see where.

And it looks like he does change the 'stalk' of the mic in the Opera House scenes:

Some how I wonder what the guy who is trying to hear what Corben is trying to say is the 25th centurys version of the RC Victor Dog

Just because this thread still exists. I too did a whole lot of searching for original parts of the cane and came up with nothing. So - I took the trouble to make it myself.

The mural around the base was a huge challenge, and I still wouldn't say I hit it out of the park, but I don't think anybody without access to the original prop would ever know. For the life of me, with all the screenshots in the world I couldn't make out what the rest of the mural (besides the guy standing next to the landscape) was intended to depict. So while all the shapes are generally accurate, I don't know what it is I sculpted haha.

Dude, AMAZING work. I've gone down the rabbit hole looking for reference images and came up short. This is the most accurate replica I've seen.
