And the more serious idea, what about a 1/1 scale NOMAD. Would a rotocast model work? I'd love to have one of those in the house.

Oh great, somebody else want's to use my plans and I don't even get a thank you.

No a rotocast model wouldn't work very well for a Nomie.

I would pass the digital model on to Steve, I'll even update it.

Max thanks a bunch. The problem with Nomad is all the metal parts. I have little or no experience with it and resin cast and painted to look like metals is, well. OK I guess. and at this size it will have to be another epoxy glass lay up. I'm still trying to get the barbs out of my fingers from the Enterprise.

It is my plan to get some tool this new year. Like a metal lathe. Mill. And something I don't know what that cuts metal well and straight. Then I could do anything from Phasers to Tricorders and more.

Thanks again Max that's most kind of you!

Steve

Hey Max,

I meant no disrespect. Didn't realize anyone had plans out there. I was just guessing making one from screen grabs. But if you have gone to the trouble of making plans and wanted to share them with Steve, thank you! I am a firm believer in giving credit where due.

That is an incredible build, by the way.

Steve, sounds like it's going to be quite a Christmas, or well New Year. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

The funny thing with my Nomad is there isn't any metal parts. It only looks like metal, It's styrene, acrylic, and printed parts. The only metal on the thing is the wiring.

It is a sore spot with me, especially since I publicly stated I didn't want any money only a credit(made from plans by Max...). I created the plans over about a year and a half, it was a lot of hours of looking at screen grabs(that's all I had access to). Then applying the guesswork to the model. I had some help from a few guys on the Dewbackwing. It was my first big prop build so it's very special to me.

Then I saw a kit that was made from my plans and I never had anything to do with it. I would have liked to sock the fool in the nose, but when I saw how inaccurate it was, that was enough. I really went up the flu when I saw the Nomad in Sci-Fi & Fantasy modeler. I did all that work and people are really taking advantage of it, and all I got was nothing. And I do want that rectified. You can call me a jerk if you like, but I have to ask who is the jerk. Besides I only turn into a jerk in these situations.

This whole experience soured me quite a bit on this hobby. I will never make a project like this public again. I wasn't going to make the 11 footer public, but I was talked into it. It has been a help to make it public, but I'm still reluctant to post about it.

Besides I came across other info on Nomad, and I do have to update the model. I've left it alone because of my hard feelings. Those updates will not be made public.

Thanks guys apology accepted.
Sorry Steve, for the rant in your thread. I do feel better.

Hey Steve,

For your next project how about the "old style ship recorder" from "WNMHGB" I have thought about doing one myself be never got around to it but you could make it large enough to sit on a desk and blink. Would be pretty cool and a piece that (to my knowledge) has not yet been done.

MAX! I know that you know I know what you mean! Been there, done that, and I have the T-shirt. There are people I helped get into the biz and win academy awards that never gave me so much as a by you leave let alone a thank you. But we move on and stay on the fun and creative track. As they say living well is the best revenge. Served cold or not!;)

And Jedi that's funny!

Hey Doug Drexler, kind soul that he is, offered to do some effects shots for my film. Wow! So this ought to be fun.

I start back to video reports on the work this weekend. Next week I'll show you the green screen shoot and my silly rear in star fleet drag in the chair with Rosie who's getting a special gold bandana with a common chevron on it. ;) She will be the first dog in Star Trek history to be on the TOS bridge. Right? Geez another piece of wardrobe I have to make.

Steve

Rosie. Boldly going where no canine has gone before!
It's only fair, after all, she's been with you every step of the way so far on this Trek.

Steve,

So glad to hear this project is coming along. Looking forward to more video updates next week.

Max,

Thanks for what you said. Everyone deserves credit for their work. Sounds like a case of intellectual recasting. What happened to you guys is just wrong.

Ted.

Well guys I have been at it the last two days. Long, long days and nights at the CGI bridge. I got all of Will's graphics in place. Fixed all the geometry. Corrected all kinds of stuff. Added all kinds of stuff and I'm starting on the station panels of buttons and goodies tomorrow. That's the last part. Once that's done I'll make the Burke chairs.

I'm hoping to finish this weekend and do a test render tour through the bridge. I hope to shoot next week and put this whole thing to bed before the year ends.

More tomorrow and video.

Steve

I can only ope that you're shooting... the silence has been deafening :D I find myself missing the reminder email that a new post has come to this thread, so I thought I'd leave one myself :)
