Max thanks a bunch. The problem with Nomad is all the metal parts. I have little or no experience with it and resin cast and painted to look like metals is, well. OK I guess. and at this size it will have to be another epoxy glass lay up. I'm still trying to get the barbs out of my fingers from the Enterprise.
It is my plan to get some tool this new year. Like a metal lathe. Mill. And something I don't know what that cuts metal well and straight. Then I could do anything from Phasers to Tricorders and more.
Thanks again Max that's most kind of you!
Steve
The funny thing with my Nomad is there isn't any metal parts. It only looks like metal, It's styrene, acrylic, and printed parts. The only metal on the thing is the wiring.
Hey Max,
I meant no disrespect. Didn't realize anyone had plans out there. I was just guessing making one from screen grabs. But if you have gone to the trouble of making plans and wanted to share them with Steve, thank you! I am a firm believer in giving credit where due.
That is an incredible build, by the way.
Ted.
Prefect42.
It is a sore spot with me, especially since I publicly stated I didn't want any money only a credit(made from plans by Max...). I created the plans over about a year and a half, it was a lot of hours of looking at screen grabs(that's all I had access to). Then applying the guesswork to the model. I had some help from a few guys on the Dewbackwing. It was my first big prop build so it's very special to me.
Then I saw a kit that was made from my plans and I never had anything to do with it. I would have liked to sock the fool in the nose, but when I saw how inaccurate it was, that was enough. I really went up the flu when I saw the Nomad in Sci-Fi & Fantasy modeler. I did all that work and people are really taking advantage of it, and all I got was nothing. And I do want that rectified. You can call me a jerk if you like, but I have to ask who is the jerk. Besides I only turn into a jerk in these situations.
This whole experience soured me quite a bit on this hobby. I will never make a project like this public again. I wasn't going to make the 11 footer public, but I was talked into it. It has been a help to make it public, but I'm still reluctant to post about it.
Besides I came across other info on Nomad, and I do have to update the model. I've left it alone because of my hard feelings. Those updates will not be made public.
Thanks guys apology accepted.
Sorry Steve, for the rant in your thread. I do feel better.
