The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I thought this was just the teaser trailer, just watched it and nearly peed myself!

good lord, this is going to be incredible!!!!!!

Been waiting for this since I finally got tired of Oblivion after 300 hours or so. Probably going to take a few days of vacation from work. I can't wait.

I'm having a tough time getting into Oblivion. I've had similar problems with all Elder Scrolls games. I'm hoping Oblivion will be more enjoyable than Daggerfall or Morrowind were.

LOVED Morrowind, and was ok with Oblivion
after I modded the HELLLLLLLL outta' it... :lol

At this point, I would say modding Oblivion is a must. You can overhaul textures to HD res, add additional playable races w/unique skill sets, flesh out towns w/additional merchants and NPCs... If the game feels dated to you, modding is an effective and flexible solution. Highly recommended! :thumbsup

The one problem with modding these games is knowing where to begin. There are SO many mods out there that it's hard to determine what's worth installing (and possibly working through mod conflict issues) and what's best left by the wayside.

TES fan here! Morrowind is one of the best game experiences Ive had! The score still gives me chills... Dun, dundun, dun, dundun...

Awww damn. After November I won't see my wife for months.

Agree with KidL, modding Oblivion - and DA:Origins - is a must. Giant freaky golem hands and muddy brown textures on everything. Yuck. (We haven't actually done this and I just can't play either game for long as-is - it's like watching DS9. All that beige makes me slightly nauseous.) :)

I love scrolls of Oblivion......It was one of the first games I bought for the 360 and enjoyed it. It was money well spent. With all the gameplay and quests, I felt like I got my monies worth..

Morrowind was my 2nd game for XBOX (Halo being the first)... I think I had roughly 360 hrs. on that before my brother "accidentally" deleted my profile :(
He told me I should just use the Sunder/ Keening "levelling glitch" to get my stats back... He just didn't get it.

On another note, I have 100% completion on Oblivion, and in regards to people not being able to get into the gameplay, I always recommend to put off the main quest in Oblivion as much as possible... It's more enjoyable to explore the entire game, and then completing the final quest is much easier after you max out your major skills.

SKYRIM looks orgazmic. I am a bit nervous as to my academic responsibility once the game comes out ...:unsure

Also, it finally looks like they are returning to some of the 'epic landscapes'/ giant cities that Morrowind seemed to hold. That harbor city looks AMAZING.

Morrowind was one of those games my friends always pestered me to get...when I got it I wasn't a big fan to start with but as soon as I got in to it I was hooked. I always thought Oblivion was a lot better with the fast-travel options and the ability to manually block attacks. In my opinion they were both games you have to stick with to get a lot out of but if we can expect more gameplay improvements I may actually have to go and physically get this on release day.

I will give them whatever amount of money is necessary to get the most special edition that will be offered, on the day that it can be pre-ordered :D

Huge Oblivion fan, and am most definitely looking forward to Skyrim. I'm leaning toward PC this time around, as I did Oblivion on PS3 and somewhat regret it now, as it would have been fun to play with some of the mods if I had it on PC.

I purchased morrowind and oblivion for xbox and pc eventually. For sheer !@% around value you can't beat the pc versions. However, given that I'm always too cheap to run a current video card I always have a more quality gameplay experience on the consoles. Plus, surround sound and a 50" screen. I'm very psyched for this game.

Can anyone recommend good mods for Oblivion? I find the sheer number of them to be a bit overwhelming and have no idea where to begin.

Which actually describes my issues with TES games in general. There's so much you CAN do that it feels like just sticking to the main quest is a waste, yet it also feels like I'm wandering around aimlessly. One of my gripes about TES games has always been that they feel very lonely. You have no party, companions, anything like that. Still, the quests are usually well done, and the games are pretty robust if you're willing to "make your own fun" in a sense rather than be led to this or that job.

Oblivion was amazing. I can not wait for Skyrim. If there were pep files for the armor in Oblivion that would be incredible. Good modeling in that game.

ANyone know if the creatures will level up at the same time your char does? This is a problem I had with Oblivion, as it made the level ups pretty pointless. You can play through the MQ on level 1...

In Morrowind you started bad and had to evolve to become strong enough to move forvard in the MQ.

I hope they did this more like Morrowind as Oblivion was pretty dumbed down with the bad level up system, the damn compass and speedtravel. ;)

I cant count the hours I played Morrowind. but I never completed Oblivion for the reasons mentioned above.

They've described the leveling system as being more like Fallout 3, but they haven't explained what that means for those of us that didn't actually play it.

From what I gather, there is still a leveling system for world mobs, but the scale is different, that areas have predefined level ranges that they hold to regardless of your own level. For example, an area might be filled with enemies level 10-20, so if you went there at level 5, everything is level 10, and you'd get torn apart. If you go there at level 15, everything will be level 15. If you go there at level 30, everything will be level 20, and you tear them apart.

Dungeons will lock to your current level when you first enter them, and will remain that way for the remainder of the game. Some people are calling this a bad design choice, since a lot of players may intentionally stay out of dungeons until later levels so they can get better loot (since high-level loot is obviously only available in high-level dungeons, so you wouldn't want all the dungeons in the game to be locked at low levels).

But, truth is, this is all conjecture. No one really knows how it's going to work out. They're being very tight-lipped about the game right now, I'm surprised we're even getting off-screen video from TGS. And everything they've showed has been from the same starting area of the game that they showed back at E3.
