I'm almost done with this costume, but I wanted to post a WIP thread, in hopes of getting some tips and ideas from the community.

This is an overview of what I have so far. I'll post more detailed pictures of specific parts later.

2013-07-28_23-05-19_334.jpg2013-07-28_23-04-55_548.jpg
included are...
a vault 21 jumpsuit (still working on stripes)
a series of belts holding various pouches and holsters
a foam pipboy 3000 (not painted yet)
a NCR first recon beret
a pair of aviator goggles
a model revolver
and a custom courier's bag.
plus other various goodies!

THE COURIER BAG

2013-07-23_18-26-23_187.jpg

this is just a military style messenger bag with some spray-paint 'tags' made with some stencils
each tag is meant to represent one of the places the courier has visited in his travels (DLCs)
2013-07-23_18-22-51_151.jpg Zion Valley national park (honest hearts) I designed this logo myself
2013-07-23_18-22-56_559.jpg Big Mountain research facility (old world blues) I also designed this logo
2013-07-23_18-23-08_79.jpg The Divide (lonesome road) i know this is a symbol for the old USA not the divide
2013-07-23_18-23-15_126.jpg Siera Madre casino (Dead Money)
2013-07-23_18-23-01_481.jpg Mojave Express (Fallout: New Vegas) credit to this patch goes to ebay user: franek-kimono

this was a simple build, just a messenger bag, cardboard stencils, lots of painter's-tape and a variety of spraypaint. the hardest part was coming up with logos for Big MT, and Zion Valley.
Anyone interested in using either of those two logos, feel free. but please inform me of any project you use them for.

NCR First Recon Beret and Aviator Goggles.

2013-07-23_18-36-03_924.jpg2013-07-23_18-36-35_187.jpg

this was the simplest part of the costume. I just got an old red beret, removed the existing patch and sewed on a patch from ebay user, "halogo"
I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

the goggles are from ebay user "manwold"
thy are pretty low quality, but I don't plan on wearing them for extended lengths of time

Looks really good so far man, recon beret is a nice touch (and my favorite early-mid game head gear ^_^). Just one thing, is it just me or is the pipboy on the wrong side? Though if you happen to be a lefty it would make more sense.

I am a lefty. I made it for the right hand because I figured it would be very encumbent on my dominant hand. I'm suprised at how many people notice.

JUMPSUIT

this took me a while, because at first I planned on having a tailor put on the stripes and numbers. After struggling to find a tailor I just started freeballin' it. this shows, since I never folded over the cloth, which causes the edges to fray. I ended up removing all that I sew on, and starting from scratch.

First attempt ---------- Second attempt

After all the sewing issues it was quite simple; A royal blue jumpsuit, with two yellow stripes, the number "21" in yellow on the back, and a followers of the apocalypse patch(halogo) on the right shoulder.

Great Khan Tattoos, and Boomer Necklace

So since a major part of Fallout: New Vegas was to get secondary factions to align with you, I've made/am making a 'trinket' for each of the factions I aligned with.

For the BOOMERS I made a necklace out of spent bullet casings, similar to those which appear on boomer armor. to make this I just went down to a clearing that some people in my neighborhood use for a shooting range, and collected some shells which weren't picked up (one of the advantages of living in the rural south.) Then I drilled a hole through them about half an inch down from the tip. Finally, I just threaded, and knotted them onto a leather string, that I got from the craft store.

For the GREAT KHANS ordered a sheet of custom temporary tattoos online. They are pretty nice, because they're more like thin flexible stickers, so they don't fade and get cracked, like most temp-tats. I'm just not committed enough to this costume to get a real tattoo.

For the FOLLOWERS OF THE APOCALYPSE I have a patch which is sewn to the right shoulder of my jumpsuit (see above.) This was originaly going to go onto a duster, which was part of my original design

I'm still trying to come up with a last minute idea for the KINGS and the BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL(was going to make a laser pistol, but ran out of time.) If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
