The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Build - Frontier Costuming Print FINISHED UPDATED POST #75

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Costume Build - Frontier Costuming Print W.I.P

how did you glue to spider on to your suit?

I used Gel Super Glue :)

where did you get the urethane from? and the stencil?

I got the urethane from my usual supplier Mouldlife as for the stencil. Frontier Costuming was nice enough to send me over a stencil that would fit the suit perfectly

How did you get the spider emblem to look 3d and what material did you use. I am making a similar suit with the Alex Ross version of spiderman.

I basically laid the stencil on some craft foam (I thought craft foam had a nice texture to it) I then cut the stencil, sprayed some lacquer on the cut out foam spider and made a silicone mould. The spider was then cast in 70 shore urethane.

Where did you get your old spiderman suit and the lenses that you tested your face shell on?

I got my old spidey suit from Frontier Costuming. I made the old frames and lenses myself :)

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Costume Build - Frontier Costuming Print W.I.P

Sorry for the lack of updates the suit is now finished :)
Here are some pictures we snapped at the opening day of the film (we were doing some promotional work for the cinema)

Enjoy!

After seeing the film I know that there are a fair few inaccuracies to my suit so I'm already planning my mark2 version!

Overall I'm pretty chuffed with it, the faceshell is gonna have a complete rework before LFCC (hopefully, if I have time!)

Hi guys and gals!
I'm back with a new project (not that I've posted much on here) but I want to include you all and meet some new friends :)

I should probably start by giving a bit of an introduction. My name is Cam, I'm from the UK (Wales. Yes it's a different country than England) and I'm pretty obsessed with Spider-man.
I've already sewn together a dye-sub from Frontier Costuming which was brilliant (comic book style Spidey) So now I'm back to take on the latest suit from Amazing Spider-man 2.

I really want to go all out on this suit. As some of you might be aware, Stan Lee will be coming to the UK for his last ever event in July and I've got tickets to meet him! So I really want to impress him with my costume.

The plan is to have a Dye sub suit. Paint on the webs with 3D tulip paint. Make a faceshell and stick it all together!

This thread will be pretty pic heavy! I'll post my favorite snaps on here but will include a link to my Photobucket for you to browse through.

Due to a certain member I have had several problems with in the past I will be making sure that my face is featured in these progress shots, so I apologise in advance for my scruffy clothes and hair :p

Lets get started:

20/01/14
My lenses from TJack arrive.
Absolutely blown away by the quality!

Dye Sub arrives from Frontier Costuming.
Loving the way the colours came out, my original plan was to tulip paint all of the blue but it looks just as good without :)
Here's a picture after I cut it all out.

I had been testing out my tulip painting skills for weeks using some "henna" applicator bottles with fine metal tips, I had enough paint left from the tests to go ahead and do the palms & thumbs of the suit, here's how it turned out:

It's raining outside so I can't work on my motorcycle ... decide to go down to my workshop and make a faceshell! (and bore my girlfriend half to death)

The whole sculpt took me 2 hours to finish using TJacks Frames as reference for eye alignment.
Here's some WIP's

Got a bit carried away so I drew a quick web in the eye (just so you know it's my cast ;D)

http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums..._254279758081207_1118943591_n_zps6c23b4ae.jpg

I then used a heat gun to seal the clay enough to start putting the silicone on:

And that's where I'm at currently!

Sorry for making it a rather long first post but I've been rather productive over the weekend :)

I'm waiting for more puff paint to arrive and more silicone, updates to come soon!

Literally cannot thank TJack and Frontier Costuming enough for their amazing work.

Please give me some feedback what am I doing wrong? what am I doing right?
Would love some discussions.

That's all for now folks!

Did you glue the urethane spider on top of printed spider?

How did that turn on? Doesn't the suit stretch when you put it on?

Hey I have a Frontier suit as well. Currently sewing them. I had a question about the gloves. Attached a pic for reference. Did you need to resize the fingers? Or am I okay? Note how the outline ends before the crotch of my fingers. Cutting it close! 2 days to finish mine.

I think it looks good in size. It will be sewn bit inside of the lines so they dont look out when its stretched. So the glove will be tighter than it looks right now.

At least thats what i saw on the suit i sewn.

How would you attack this? Hand first then Arm?

I always go for arm first but leave a couple inches still free at the end when sewing the glove on if that makes any sense

When you sew this, can you post pictures of how you sewed the palm and the thumb plz

Man, these were tough. I hand sewed first, noticing the thumb was too big. I had to attach via the 2nd web line on the thumb.
Spiderman replica hand sewing instruction. - YouTube This guy explains it well. Honestly it was a brute force method for me. I sewed, put it on and stretched my hand until the stitching broke, and sewed while stretching the fabric. I've never touched a sewing machine before this, so the whole ordeal was trial and error. Wherever there were holes I just went over them again with another stitch.

What were the inaccuracies that you are speaking of?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Costume Build - Frontier Costuming Print W.I.P

Hey everyone!

Big update time!

I know it's been forever since I updated this thing but I've been busy in work and trying to get everything finished in time for the LFCC.

So as I said in my last post I wanted to fix some inaccuracies of my costume so I decided to make a new mask with Tjacks faceshell kit.

I started by ordering a new mask print from Frontier costuming and ordering Tjacks faceshell kit.
The first bit of real work was cutting off the old mask and cleaning the neck line but enough typing i'll let the photos do the explaining :)

10472690_592145794237733_837699059821296294_n.jpg10456008_592206160898363_7702445057051147394_n.jpg10341974_594729793979333_1451879328950646089_n.jpg

With that all done I realised since i'd be going solo to LFCC my amazing girlfriend wouldn't be there to do her usual convention job of carrying my stuff in her bag and taking photos, so I needed to make my self a webpack. I used the same method martinezjoe182 stated in his amazing Scarlet spider build but instead of a helmet I used a tupperware bowl. Here's a pic of how it turned out (wearing it with the comic suit)

10366232_593780387407607_7702886472558446247_n.jpg

So with all that done here's a comparison shot of the suit with a couple pics of the suit in action. Really happy with how it's looking now ready for LFCC!

Hey!
I am entranced with the urethane! How is it one would acquire polyurethane; and how do you create a mould in the shape of the spider?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Build - Frontier Costuming Print FINISHED UPDATED POST #
