OK here's the scoop on the braid used on the "Motion Picture" uniforms...

It's the same funky braid as described on that "Samuel Peeples" site mentioned in the "I need a lot of TOS braid" thread. :lol

So there you have it... not TOS braid at all, but he describes pretty thoroughly how to do TMP braid. I guess for TMP they needed a large supply, and had to make it up from scratch or something.

A thin strip literally wound around a thick stripe. It's pretty ugly braid, but then so are the uniforms. :lol

Kirk's looks particularly bad... those dashes are WAY too long. Plus the angled cuts are going the wrong way - against the direction of the strips wound around the solid stripes (in TOS the dashes resemble the "negative space" between the loops on the solid stripes)...

The overall effect comes off as really amateurish, like a fanmade costume or something. :$

Here's Kirk's Admiral suit again. This is actually the only TMP uniform I really like.
