What was that? Fleet Captain?

Don't have my copy of the Tech Manual here in Japan... :confused

"They say there's no bling, Jim. But there is... I've worn it."

:p

"Dammit Jim I'm a Doctor, not a PIMP."

not sure what the 3 stripes were....

was there ever such a braid in the original series shown?

*waits for the magical karl screencaps.*

I don't think the three full stripes were ever shown on TOS. But I did see it illustrated somewhere, I'm thinking maybe in the tech manual.

I always thought it was nonsensical that Kirk bet his ship and the lives of all his crewpeople on the sensitivity of the guy who called him "Captain Dunsel" and sent him sulking to his quarters. :lol

On the other hand, there's the case of Admiral Kirk in "Star Trek The Motion Picture"...

In those scenes where he wears the two-toned Admiral tunic, he has FOUR stripes... three bunched up and one other. (once he takes command of the Enterprise his uniforms show ordinary Captain's stripes).

Since the film, the costume seems to have been retrofitted with Captain's stripes, at least for this appearance at the TMP Director's-cut premiere

I hate when they change an item like that. Why can't they just restore something to it's original condition when they display a screen used costume?

K-MAN aka: Captain Screen CAP. aka: Karl comes through again ...

love those screen caps mah-man.

dave

p.s. anyone know of those are the same braids used in the TV series? my guess is no......

UGH. I hate it when that happens. You know you would think that someone performing a restoration "might" review some source material. Of course look what the NASM did to the 11" model of the Enterprise. It's just careless.

John

p.s. Does anybody have a close-up on Kirk's Insignia from that uniform? I've been trying to match the look for years.-J

I believe the pin of the delta-shield with a circle around it is the same as was used on the WOK-style uniforms (they added a rectangular plaque behind it).

The pin was also worn by WOK-style Cadets (whose uniforms were modified from the TMP pajama-type outfits).

Yeah, I know, but I have reason to believe of late that the actual pin on Kirk's grey and whites has a little more detail than we've seen on the later monster maroons. Hurm...

Also and this is slightly off topic but does anybody have a screen cap of the TOS box set menu of the main viescreen? I've been looking for one to make a wallpaper out of.

Well I can try to do some caps later... gotta dash right now tho. B)
