The Foot...
So the wife and I do a Christmas Card every year, and being the genius I am I suggested a Bigfoot shot.
Here's the last two:
Now I suggested this because I'm almost 7 feet tall and have always wanted a Sasquatch suit and who wouldn't want to stomp around in the woods. So doing a Bigfoot sounded great, until I started crunching the numbers. Once rung, the bell cannot be un-rung and I started getting, "When are you gonna build that Bigfoot? Christmas isn't getting any further away." That kinda stuff. Well he wasn't getting any cheaper either, so i started looking at stuff.
Found some teeth on sale:

Ordered the Kong $35
Found a good appliance. Now I really ordered two just to be safe. One Ape appliance from Bump in Night and the Ape Man from FX Faces.
http://www.boneyardfx.com/fxfaces.htm
$50
I returned the Bump in the Night one cause it was TERRIBLE. I mean looked NOTHING like the website pictures. Now to their credit they took the return and refunded quickly, and were not surprised it came back. They said they had problems with it and their Zombie. That musta sucked cause it was Halloween. I guess he was busy fending off the "Bigfoot Hoax" stuff he got pulled into. That was good for a laugh when I told him what I was doing. I'm glad I had backup.
Started looking for the suit. Ouch, the Rubie's Chewbacca would be a start, but damn it's expensive. Cheapest I could find was around $350. Not gonna happen. There is nothing Rubies has made yet that's worth $350. Found a used one on EBay and made sure it was the sewn model and not the model that's glued together. That's what I need is a Glued together Rubie's costume, that's gotta look great and hold up well. What? Boom! Got it for $200.
It's classic Rubies. Almost okay. it has half the runs of hair it should, you can see the undersuit. Let's go to the Sally's that's going out of business and get some hair. I live in the Ghetto so the hair choices are huge. I can get any shape, form or fashion of hair at 25 places within a mile of my house. They love seeing me walk in, cause it cracks them up. If I'm not getting hair for a Bigfoot, them it's something for Santa or a Zombie or whatever. The giant white guy buying ethnic hair care products brightens up everyone's day. 10 runs of hair $20. I start lacing the runs into the suit to bulk it up. Now it looks like Bigfoot been using his Crimper.
Yes I know what a Crimper is, I spend a lot of time in the ethnic beauty supply stores, remember?
A. Is the first runs.
B. Further along
C. You can see how the undersuit shows through
D. Outside color test
The guys at NFT sent me some samples for free. Great guys. I will use those on the face.
I'm at $285, got some No-Tack Pro-Ad, some Pro-Ad and some Super-Solv. $30 and it brings the total to $315.
Used an old Pearl gift card for paint -Free, get two pots of Ben-Nye to match the wigs and suit and paint $12, shame the girl into giving me what was left of the display bottle of neutral set. They had 1/3 of bottle out for display but none for sale. Sorry state of affairs at the Theatrical Supply House, but she made up for it. Cash in some credit for commercial work i did at Halloween and get some Contacts for the Foot.
$327.
Here's the Feet...
Some scrap plywood and old boots. These are some cheap WalMart boots i wear when my regular one's are being resoled. No big loss here.
Dig up some Pink Insulation.
Screw the wood down, Construction Adhesive the foam down. Let Dry.
Rough out...
Sand...
Hit with some PAX I mixed up, add milkjug toenails, weather the tonails, add the Chewy feet and Voila!
Here's the appliance...
Really impressed and pleased with the piece. Nice edges, great sculpt, clean pull. Great piece. Here's a shot of the quick painting stand...
First coat of PAX...
Some other shading...
So all the pieces are done and we had the shoot yesterday. Here's a sneak peek, I'll post the final version when everything's done computerwise.
