TFA Luke Skywalker WIP

Anybody else getting this feeling?
Wool is weird in that way that it can look different in different light. One robe I made years ago looked grey, dark brown or even had a green tinge in different light.
Luke's cloak in ROTJ was brown but looked grey in most pictures. The vintage Kenner figure came with a grey cloak and other action figures have come with a brown cloak.

My interpretation is that the costume designer for TFA wanted it to appear like what people remembered Luke's cloak in ROTJ to look like, and then sun-bleached. And that would have been grey.

So I've completed the under shirt ,top robe ,obi, and tabbard, I've also cut the leather for the belt and beaten somen aluminium plate and shaped a buckle ,when I work out how to post photos from my tablet to this site I'll put up some pics

so here is my luke TFA i need to dye the belt and pouch and add the d ring and saber clip then its onto the cloak dad costume.jpg

I debated whether to weather and I think I will ,Luke's been on an island for years its going to be grubby ,and as for the cloak ,I've been struggling with a pattern for it ,being 6ft 4in there's a lot of fabric involved and all my patterns I've made just don't sit right or have too many seams ,I think I will have to have a cloak that looks OK and has extra seams in it,I'm hopeing to get the fabric Friday so I may have it completed by the weekend

I bought old sheets from the charity shop/thrift shop and worked out a pattern with them then when I had something I liked I used it as the pattern ,work well

Unfortunately, I’m putting this costume on an indefinite hold.

The Rebel Legion costume club has declared that there are not enough reference pictures of this costume to be approvable. Because I build costumes to wear during charity events, and they won’t accept Luke Skywalker in the Rebel Legion, I have to put this project on hold and pray the Blu-Ray has pictures of this costume. There is no way I can drop $600+ on a costume that I can only wear to the two conventions I do every year.

Hopefully, the costume club will decide to approve the costume worn by one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars, but until then I have to put this build on hold.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. There's absolutely no reason you shouldn't be allowed to wear it whenever you want. ESPECIALLY to charity events. Not one damn person that you're there to entertain is going to know if you're screen accurate or not. All they're going to see is Luke Skywalker.

These "costume clubs" seriously need to get over themselves(and have needed to for a looooong time). What are they going to do if you show up to an event in an unapproved costume? Throw you in costume jail?

I say make it. Wear it. Be happy. Put smiles on peoples faces.
