Terminator: Genisys

That's what I hate about franchises like this... hinge everything on a few characters.
Ok, yes John Connor has knowledge of the future because his mom passed it down to him from her experience in T1.
But are you telling me he is the ONLY person after Judgement Day capable of leading a resistance? Come on.... there are too many trainer soldiers, hobby commandos, preppers and survivalists in this country to say that one kid is humanity's savior.

How about Skynet just keeps leaking future tech back in time so that it continually advances itself in the future. Let the humans keep improving on the technology that Skynet relies on.

Bottom line... The Connor family is tired and played out as much as Ellen Ripley.

I sorta agree with this. Kinda like Star Wars, I would love to see a movie about a squad of Stormtroopers in the Saving Private Ryan or Blackhawk Down style. Doesn't need to be as gory but give me some characters I care about and make a cool movie. No Jedi or lightsabers needed I just want to see more of the universe because that's one of the things that hooked me in the first place, also like Terminator and ALIEN.

This is partially in Terminator Salvation yet as the broken record I am about that movie, people tend to not read a thread before posting. Marcus' main mission was to reach Skynet and upload future tech files. Anything to do with the resistance would be as an add needed infiltration basis. This is why he perks up and "wheres your base"... he is given free will yet pre programmed to infiltrate and scout enemy locations on the side if the opportunity presents itself along the way in fulfilling the main mission.

Thats why we have HK's, plasma weapons, the Transformer with knee motorcycles... all near 30 years too soon. This is also why the T800 is there decades ahead of schedule. The time travel was left on the cutting room floor along with an entirely different film.

At least Linda Hamilton didn't do another movie under the condition that she had to die in it.

... and then still make another ****ty movie after that.

It would have been ok to see Sarah Connor die in the series.... it has to happen sooner or later.
Instead they killed her off off-screen with cancer. Lame. I guess JC left that little detail out when he sent Reese back from the future to SAVE HER. Whoopsies.

You know...it occured to me the other day. That deleted scene with the alternate ending of T2 doesn't make sense all the sudden, the one where Sarah is old and watching John push his child on the swing. Here is why, Sarah is a fugitive at the end of T2, presumably, John would probably be in some sort of trouble as well. Wouldn't they just have arrested her again, or sent her back to the looney bin? You can't just forgive and forget the stuff she did. Escaping the mental hospital, holding people hostage, attempted murder. You know, that stuff doesn't just get brushed away, especially when they just destroyed the only evidence they had.

This is like that time I found out Raiders of the Lost Ark would have ended the same way without Indy...

Why didn't they at least make an effort to cast someone who at least slightly resembles the older John Conner in T2. He had the perfect look. Commanding, experienced, and trustworthy.

Maybe Doctor Silverman threw in a good word. :)

Maybe older Sarah had been to prison, and served her sentence, she probably plead guilty to all John's stuff too so that he could stay on the outside.

Then after she got out, the deleted scene as we know it.

The alternate ending was actually the original ending, which was later changed. And since John Connor in that future was a U.S. senator he might have pulled some favors and get a clean slate for his mother ;) Besides who's to say they were even using their real names?

Was at Griffith Observatory yesterday. Will be interesting to see how they back-date it as the area where Paxton and his pals has changed a bit.

See, I was not aware that John was a U.S. Senator.
