Terminator: Genisys

Re: Terminator: Genesis

keep in mind he was the T800 in Salvation yet for some reason they stuck a horrible wig on him. He just had a birthday, he's now Arnies age from T2.

Re: Terminator: Genesis

They also put a CGI 'young Arnold' face on him. It was noticeable and a bit cartoony though. Really the guy looks enough like him that they could have skipped the CGI and it would have been better

Definitely not Roland Kickinger's face:

Re: Terminator: Genesis

thats well know about the CGI. It was done to attach Arnolds name to the film without him being in a single frame of film, not even the cutting room floor. He did visit the TS set and say hello for publicity. For Salvation Roland was as dead a ringer as possible for a T1 Arnold. He is now Arnolds age from T2 yet has a body of a younger Arnold and dare I say, actually larger than being an honest 6'5" bare foot.

Im a little off with my info as well. Roland had been contacted prior for a different incarnation of the new Terminator film yet he turned them down. Ive not gotten the specifics but the new film has yet to contact him. He is in film ready shape as he has been prepping for another film role.

Re: Terminator: Genesis

I just can't see this movie working.

The first movie was a classic, horror, sci fi and unrelenting with a grimy look to it and wonderful music.

The second was an innovative sci action movie with a sad ending and haunting music.

The third was a hollywood cash grab with no heart, or attempt to bother.

The fourth was even worse.

No Brad Fiedel, No Jim Cameron means failure.

Indeed :(
At least fairly soon Jim will get his tainted franchise back.

Re: Terminator: Genesis

Roland is ready if they call, even grew his hair out. Here he is just a few days ago. The guy is 6'5" so you can imagine how big he actually is.

But keep in mind the guy has been training since his early teen years, same as Arnold. The difference is Roland is what everyone expected Arnold to be in real life, tall, huge, and like Arnold well spoken and approachable.

Re: Terminator: Genesis

Sadly though, the action stars of the Arnold type are no longer considered viable for mainstream movies.

People seem to want "normal" heroes like Matt Damon!

Other than the Expendables movies, and some of Arnold and Sly's own solo movies, you don't really see the big powerful types of action stars in mainstream movies, they are most likely to be in direct to DVD if anything.

Its a shame, as Kickinger could do a Commando type movie with ease!

Re: Terminator: Genesis

Roland has a couple film projects in the works. One is a sequel of a well known pair of action films, another is a comedy that im sure people here will "get". He has done some action films outside of the US and is very, very well trained in martial arts. Its almost disturbing to see a guy thats 6'5" and 300+ pounds of solid muscle doing Wushu near flawlessly.

Movies work in cycles like everything else.... eventually big hulking action guys will make a comeback.

Re: Terminator: Genesis

James Cameron seems to think the movie might be good from that recent interview. I have serious doubts with the current director and others. If they get why Terminator 3 & 4 are bad. The guy who made Terminator 4 didn't and I knew that movie was going to be bad from the start.

And Arnold Schwarzenegger without a good director does not turn in good performances. His old movies are classic action stuff too. Terminator 1 & 2, Commando, Total Recall, Predator. You can't mess with those movies.

Re: Terminator: Genesis

Not even remotely caring at this point. Still in the "embarassed for Arnold" phase of all this.
