Sunday update time!

Overall maintaining current weight at 164-165. My ankle is still not 100% so I can't go into full cardio mode again yet but at least I'm at a better starting point towards my 10lbs weightloss goal for May 4th.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

drink the water and lots of it!

taken from bodybuilding.com
"Water has many health and performance benefits. It keeps your organs functioning properly, clears toxins, reduces excess sodium from your body, and it hydrates your muscle cells. It even liberates fat stores on your body so they are burned off as an energy source. Dehydration will cause a major decrement in performance. Even a 2% state of dehydration will cause your performance to go out the window. Just because most powerlifting events aren't out in the heat, it doesn't mean that proper hydration isn't important. Water plays a major role in cell volumization. This is where nutrients are pulled inside of the muscle cell causing a multitude of reactions that leads to muscle growth. Water is very important in many processes including digestion, transportation and the absorption of nutrients. So how much water should you drink on a daily basis? You should drink on average at least 1oz of water per kilogram of bodyweight."

Id also recommend supplementing creatine in either pill or powder form, not only will it help getting a better pump when working out but will help rebuilding the muscle after you break it down.

a thousand thanks for that precise opinion!!! And i did take 2tbs of creatine before a workout, but i had to stop before my debut as spidey cause it added waterweight and i couldnt fit the suit xD Ill start using it till my next convention.

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Sunday update for me is I'm almost down to 155lbs now ( I was close to 162lbs a month and a half ago), and still getting stronger. About to go on a 5 mile run today (gotta build up to 12 by September) and maybe some core. I'm hoping to get back into my normal workout schedule this week

Monday legs and shoulders
Tuesday chest and back
Wednesday cardio and core
Thursday arms
Friday cross fit
Weekend cardio core

Haven't posted in a couple weeks. Been still trying to bulk but I've plateau'd at about 150, I haven't gained anything in the last couple weeks

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

I stay pretty lean year round. My Bday is coming up though (41) and so in April I usually work to shred down to "anatomy chart" body fat levels by month's end.

I do hang out at the gym a lot.

Id highly recommend using a thermogenic or a cutting pill 3-5 days out before a convention, not only will it help you drop the water weight but also give you that ripped look. just fair warning on thermogenics they make you pi$$ like a race horse

May i ask what your best methods of getting that lean and strong are? I definitely want to pull off a flag-pole to physically fit the part of spidey.

OK...good to know. I took some orange crap a day before a Combatives tournament and dropped 5 pounds for the weigh-in...thank goodness, because I had to remove my boxers...:eek

While I'm here let me give you my measurements:

Neck 14"
Waist 34"
Hip 36"

Weight 170...I swear I've been eating less and drinking water often...

Re: A lot of people working on TASM but are you also working on your fitness?

Pull-ups also help getting that V shape. I use to couldn't do 1. Now I can do 4 sets of 12 easy. I also found a gym partner to be my spotter so I can get that extra rep completed. I eat 6 small meals a day and I don't starve as I include fruits and veggies into my lean meats

This is something I really struggle with. I'm 240 lbs right now, and can't come close to doing a pull-up. I am in the process of losing weight, down from 250 in 4 weeks, and trying to get down to 225. Any advice for building the required strength to do pull-ups???

build you body especially your back muscles. use a resistance band for an assist by putting your foot in the band to take off weight, or a chair, use a friend even, try to stay away from assistmachines as they tend to not give you the full motion of a pull up. Or you could do reverse pull up by starting at the top and let your self back down slowly.
if an assist machine is all you have its better then nothing but i would assume if you own a pull up bar everyone should own at least one chair lol.

Start by hanging from the pull up bar, time how long you can hang for and try to increase the amount of time you can hang. Then do as Josh has said above and work on 'negatives', use a chair to lift yourself up and lower yourself down to a full hang as slowly as you can.

The next step I would say is attempting a pull up with one foot on the chair back to assist yourself on the pull up, use your leg as little as possible.

If you attempt pull ups often enough you should find you get better at them pretty quickly, good luck

Re: TASM Fitness Thread. "Shirts-off" Challenge Starts NOW for May 4th deadline!

Has anyone talked about proper stretching routines for the lower body? i still cant combine a split and a squat very well, but ive managed to get my knee over my head when i get face first on the ground and i can get most of my hand to the floor without bending my knees.
