Tantive IV for new X-Wing miniatures game

As with the other models of this series the details are not 100% accurate. Due to the size and manufacturing process small details had to be simplified. The models have been designed with CAD. That explains why variations on similar areas are sometimes not reproduced ("cut and paste"). The paintjob has to be a mass production.
The scale is a difficult question, but even the F-Toys or Fine Molds models are not consistent in scale (x-wing and Ties have different scales although it is stated otherwise).
Most of these issues can be found (more or less) on every commercial model. So expecting a "perfect" model would be too optimistic.
I am very happy with the Tantive IV that I have received. For a model in this price range, the size is larger than expected. The details are better and more crisp than I hoped for and the paintjob is a very positive surprise. It is very good. Despite its small inaccuracies the Tantive IV is a good model that can easily be displayed without any modification. It looks great and is small enough to be put right onto a shelf.
Of course there is still room to super detail and / or repaint it (if you have the skills). But if you are a big fan of the Tantive IV you might want to go for one of the two resin kits that are available. Both (SSM kit and Randy Coopers kit) are amazing and in my opinion totally worth the price asked for.

I hope that the x-wing miniatures games series will continue and keep that high level.
Does anybody know which ship will come next?

I ordered both of these as preorders... I have the Rebel transport and am looking to get this guy shortly... These "game pieces" are fantastic game pieces - and decent models. The only thing that "bothers me" on the blockade runner pics I've seen is the piping around the engines. simplified for obvious reasons but PRIME candidate for cutting and redoing. the detail on the side of the head and docking ports could do with some work... Oh well... I AM a modeler...

I play the game and I'm on the game forums. The next "wave" of small ships has been announced and they are all EU ships: TIE Phantom, TIE Defender, E-wing, and the Z-95. There is no word on what the next large (Falcon and Slave 1 sized) or huge (Rebel Transport and Tantive IV Sized) ships will be, but there is a lot of speculation. If there is any sort of pattern to announcements then I think we'll hear something near the end of the summer for huge ships.
