This is a 3 foot T Rex bust I'm working on. I'm in the process of removing the jaw so I can pose the mouth more opened.

I put the jaw back together.

Just starting the paint on the mouth, the teeth aren't painted yet.

I've spotted these for sale and toyed with the idea of buying one. They're from the Stan Winston maquette, right?

Removing the lower jaw and adding the teeth and tongue looks like a tricky little job, I'll be following this thread with great interest, as they say.

DO WANT!!! DDOOOO WWWAAANNNTTTT!!

I've always loved the look of the Stan Winston Rex from JP.......awesome piece!!

Mr.THX that turned out great, thanks for sharing the pics and that page.

Knightjar, yes it was filled with a really hard expanding foam, it was a nightmare to get it out. I had to use a drill with an extension and a 2" wood boring bit to route it all out of there. I almost gave up on it. You can see where I damaged it in a few places where they drill broke the resin, no big deal though just more work for me, LOL.

I have one of these too (thankfully it was hollow - no foam to clear out!). I've removed all the excess resin, but wanted to cut off the lower jaw to open the mouth up more, but I've always been scared I'll destroy the thing.

Did you dremel off the lower jaw? Did you have to remove quite a bit to allow it to hinge open further?

I'm new here but....How do you people DO this stuff!??!
The amount of amazing work I've seen on here caused me to join despite being an absolute tool when it comes to making stuff. Gimme a guitar, ask me to writer a tune and I'm fine...ask me to make something and I'm lost.
You people are very talented individuals.

Welcome Mr Chuff, but on the other hand, give me a guitar and I can make twangy sounds, and written music might as well be Chinese... but give me a lump of clay and I can make you a T2 Arnold... yet I still envy your musical skills ;)

Now this is some seriously fantastic work. I love seeing customization like this. That's going to be a kick ass display piece when its done. Thanks for walking us through the process of removing the lower jaw and showing how you reconstructed it. This is is exactly why I love the RPF ;)

Sorry, I had to go and pour myself a drink to get over the awesomeness of that lifesize T REX cast.

How the heck did you acquire that? From the Stan Winston workshop? I'll bet the shipping was a killer.:lol

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!??!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheebus, that was NOT expected when I scrolled down for an update!!!
