SW Bossk's flightsuit: Found !!

Nice !
Do you guys think his suit is Black or it's the Blue version that looks darker given the poor light condition?

Hey that is a great picture. I believe the Mk 4 is a newish model though, as the original does date from the early 60's. Also, as the description says, they had a bunch of different versions.

I can't find the original reference linking the flak vest to the name of RAF jerkin, so it is possible it was a mistaken reference to begin with?

I'll keep looking to see if I can find when the vest was "found" originally, but your picture is much clearer and also very direct on who the manufacturer was.

dig back afew years in the Rebel Costuming subforum over at ASAP. The threads might have been lost in the move to yuku, but IIRC both the vest and suit were IDed there. Or maybe try the Rebel Legion boards.
Great sleuthing, guys!

Yes I figured it was at ASAP, and I didn't feel like signing up there again just to find out, even if the information survived the mood.

Now the question is are those suits relatively easy to obtain or...

as I recall they are EXTREMELY rare and highly prized for their place in aviation history. I think a pic of that same museum display turned up before, and apparently no other smples have surfaced. It would probably be easier to just buy the screenused ones from Berman & Nathan's (or whatever UK costume rental house that had them). ;)

Provided anyone has the funds to obtain an original is there any possibility or feesibility to having it replicated? I can't even imagine what an original would or could even cost given the rarity and history behind these suits.

Does anyone have the resources to make reproductions based on the limited info available. I doubt we'll get our hands on an original, but I'd be glad to invest in getting these done. I need 2, a yellow and a black.

Hmm.... Its possible but it whould cost allot. Metal work combines with several different tecniq. and material to make it. Also make one or 2 whould not be enought to start a project like that.

I think it looks very cool.

Great pics!

On the flak vests, the fabric and the fishbone pattern and ribbing on the straps match those on the X-wing flak vests seen in exhibits.
I am not entirely sure, but it seems that the area with the smaller ribs is smaller on the X-wing flak vests. The shoulder straps also look shorter.
I would like to see the back and if there are any buckles underneath the arm pits.

The old thread on ASAP is still there.

Where would one even begin the hunt for an original? I would assume that a spot on reproduction of the entire suit ie. vest, harness, metal parts, the whole shabang would easily cost $1000.....but to me would be worth it!!

Now, what would an original cost???? 2k, 3k,5-10-20k???? :confused

Is there, was there, will be anyone who ever makes an accurate reproduction of the Bossk flightsuit? I've seen fair ones, but all miss the mark in some way shape or form...A lot has to do with the quality of the masks and apendages that I've seen too, but nowadays there are some really, spot on masks of Bossk to make hunting down a high quality flightsuit of more interest to me.

TMP could do it!! Are we talking cost allot like the TMP Vader Leather undersuit, or cost allot like the TMP Ironman Costume? I seem to be donating all of my extra $$ to TMP lately. How many orders would you need to start a project/suit like this?

Hope, hope, hope......

If TMP could and would do it, I would imagine some additional research would be necessary to get it as accurate as possible.

Thanks for your kind replies.

I would also would be interested in a suit.
How's that workbench TMP? :)
Does anyone have some more info on this?

Has anyone tried to contact "TMP" to see if he'd even be interested in tackling a project like this? I've personally not had any prior contact with him so I thought perhaps someone else with a rapport would be in a better position. If not, then perhaps I would track him down......

....I'd rather not see this idea die a short death

I agree. I'll PM him and see if he's interested.

I belive this is a project we could possible do. But not right now..
We need to focus on existing orders and get these out before we think of new projects.

I will need to know more what people want. Is it the entire thing with the metal discs and so on? Or is it good enought to do just the softparts? If the last i whould be easier and less resourcefull and timeconsuming.
