SW – ANH (5 Foot) - Studio Scale Millennium Falcon Build

Per a few requests, I've uploaded a vector PDF to the grabCAD archive. It's un-dimensioned and Andre's drawings are the primary reference; this is just supplemental. It can also be opened in Illustrator for those looking to edit and hack around with it.

Cheers,

Wow, this is awesome. Wish I'd have waited a few days to start on my Lightwave version. Would have been much easier with this drawing, LOL. Oh well, you guys rock ! Thanks again for this early birthday gift, :) Cheers,

Joe

Yup! It's such a dominant asymmetry, we left it in.

Thanks very much for the info maruska. The work that was done on the blueprints is phenomenal and a great reference. Checked out your website as well. Great modeling work on the Falcon and cockpit.

Picked up this puppy today from PCS!
It's plastic, so I can use WeldOn for a rock solid join.

Wet dream, I am big into cars but my friend is into trucks, when we talk about cars he laughs as a mechanic he considers them toys , now I can use that analogy with falcons , the 5 footer is a truck to the 32 inch falcons car , real men build the 5 footer LOL

Amen. There are trucks and then little car toys. Unless it's a 68-70 Dodge Charger. That is the only car to own.

The 5 footer is the ultimate. Anything else is just a stunt double or stand in.

Ok. Didn't realise it was the part you were asking about. Yeah, I'd love one too (but not yet)

Sooooo, Jason. Are you going into the 5ft Falcon business now? That looks incredible.
Thanks man, I was asking about the Falcon cockpit, but thanks for the link, :) That's one pricey machine, Cheers,

Joe

Don't agree here ! The 5ft is a big rough mockup, the 32" is the ultimate Falcon with delicate details ! (I agree on this point that the 5ft looks more like a truck :D) Haha :)

Have you even seen the 5 foot falcon in person? That statement is totally false. It's incredibly detailed.

The 32" Falcon is a REPLICA of the 5 footer, by definition it is inferior. ESB or not. :D They used both.

Also, It's not a truck, it's a hot rod. ;)

Ha ha, the 32' is a stunt model & not meant to be standing still long enough for you to realise its not the 5 footer

They continued to use the 5 footer anytime they could in ESB & ROJ for beauty shots,....she's the real deal

It's the 5 footer (digitised) that we are seeing in Episode 7.....the 32" is retired

I think this is just a matter of taste, but to me the 5ft detailling is rough, the chosen parts are not as nice (look at those ugly 312B parts on the mandibles ends ! :p). But I am biased, I do prefer the TESB and ROTJ detailling style than the ANH (I don't like at all the ANH SD for example), this is mostly due to the kits that were available at this time. The Karl, Leo and Flakvierling38 changed everything ! :D
I should admit I prefer the ESB paintjobs too.
The only thing I like on the 5ft is the use of Koolshade... and maybe the decals. I do prefer the 5 landing gears version, the Falcon is much more balanced this way ! :)

Ha ha, the banter over which is best, neither is, they are both equally impressive!.
This is a 5 footer thread though, so comparisions not really relevant here. They each have their merits.
For me I always wanted a 5 footer, now I'm building one, a life long dream, but still love the 32" model too.
End of the day the Falcon in any scale is still a Falcon, which is what we all want.

Haha J, it's easy to spot the 32" in the movie, this is always the blurry Falcon ! :p
More seriously I'm not the kind of guy who cares too much about the movies (if I watched one SW movie in a year this is a lot lol), I'm just interested in the models. I do prefer Red 4 (which has a screen time of 2 sec ?) than Red 5, Red Jammer than any other Y (0 sec screen time :p).

But I do like the 5 footer and thankfully she gave birth to that wonderful 32" MF ! :D

Yeah Stu !

Even the small MF attached to the Medical Frigate is pretty cool ! And the smaller one used on the ISD bridge is too cute ! :)

I think that the most important thing is that none of them have parallel mandibles. :p

:D I'm just the other way round,....I love the 32" but to me the 5 foot is hotter....I like the momma better:lol

That's right. Well said. 32 inch? That's only slightly longer than a skateboard. :lol and it's a copy of the original.
