Suttle Hint of Star Wars in Star Trek?

After looking at a picture of Worf on Star Trek I was admiring his shoulder band that is Metallic and was thinking that is cool.
I know that Worf is a very strong one and he is pretty much the Ships Can o' Whoop $%^.

And I have also looked at an action figure in a thread here on this site: http://www.therpf.com/f12/toys-never-were-appreciation-thread-205814/ And I was looking at the Unreleased Star Wars Toys. And I noticed Chewbacca having a Shoulder strap that much like Worfs runs diagonal but it is over his Left shoulder where as Worf's is over his Right shoulder.

Just my opinion of course... but I don't see how the two are related.

Worf's sash is an updated version of the sash the Klingons wore in the Original series (which predates Star Wars):

In the first season of The Next Generation Worf wore an almost exact copy of Kor's sash pictured above:

However in the second season Worf became the ship's head of security and switched to a gold uniform. This is when he started wearing the grey leather/metal sash. If I had to guess, I would say the powers that be decided his gold sash wouldn't contrast enough with his uniform, hence the switch to silver/grey.

However Chewbacca's "sash" isn't so much a sash, but a bandolier (and pouch) which holds ammo magazines for his bowcaster.

I always that thought that it was common knowledge amongst Trek/TNG fans that Worf's sash was an homage to the sashes seen being worn by TOS Klingons.

The word on the street was that Worf wore an original TOS Klingon sash for TNG season 1.

From what I've read, the first sash was actually the original prop used in TOS. Being over 20 years old and used much more than it was in TOS, it began to fray. When Worf changed division colors, it was seen as an opportunity to replace it. Apparently it was designed by taking bike chains and weaving grey strips of leather through them. The emblems (just one, I believe) actually had blinking LEDs in them... Like the kind you would find in an old digital watch (I don't think they ever actually showed up on screen). There really isn't any correlation.

on the final season of Enterprise an alien race had cut down purple/green/silver MG 34's as rifles and Ruger based pistols. Initially the were to have actual E11's but that was too obvious.

Clutch, I always figured the speeder was specifically tied to that planets magnetic field, thus making it useless anywhere else, without a re-tune.
