Sulaco1967 W.i.p First Build Competed

Yeah probably better not to discuss the in's and out's of that here Lflank...lol

Anyway I decided to take asonofzebeddee' s advice and put some muscle sections around the hips. This will give me a greater flexablty with different armour types.

Foam is in the freezer and will post some pics tommorow.

cheers

Well I have been applying layers of latex over the last few days and have added some detail, sorry no pics my pc is playing up. I have been using pieces of upholstry foam to apply the latex and am enjoying seeing and feeling the skin get more rubbery with each application.

I'm still having problems getting the mix with the tint/latex right and it is not going as white as I would wish.Saying that when applying with the foam it puts on a very thin layer and after about four coats in some areas the seams can still be felt by your finger. The latex though does go very far and have enough for about another six layers of sponging.

Question being Through when do I stop, how do I know that the layers are thick enough.
What is the ideal thickness, have been using the search engine however have not found the info I'm looking for...

Any help would be most appreciated

cheers

Here are some pics of where I am at just now with the suit.

Many thanks to Brian (Wonko) for replying to my Pm regardinq questions about the latexing process, Cheers  mate.

Still a few layers to go yet.  I am still not happy with the latex tint I bought, maybe and will maybe put in some acryllic as well..

Lookin good Sean.  It does look like you could use a few more coats of latex.  I added in acrylic paint and was happy I did.  Thanks for the pics and update!

Brian

Yeah Brian I plan using the rest of the latex I have left...the pics are a bit deceiving Though as the latex tint is S##T...The bulk of the joints where I have attached the fabric to the foam are becoming encapsulated in latex and you cannot feel a ridge. I'm going to add acryllic to the next layer.

Once again thanks for your help Sir...

cheers

Sean

Happy I could share my experiences with you good sir!  That's what makes this place the spot to be on the internet!

Brian

Thanks bud I'm glad you like. I have pretty much finished latexing now, however Pred budget is Zero just now and will have to wait till pay day to get some paint..sob

I plan on working on a belt and Loincloths in the meantime..will post some pics soon..

cheers

Tell your relative to send me some dosh too. I absolutely must upgrade my hi-fi and I fancy some new camera gear too.
Good to hear you have a benefactor looking out for you. Must be a well-to-do Predator fan.
Enjoy your trip to Glasgow, the weather is to be good tomorrow for a change..

Good news indeed Sean!  I'm excited to see how this comes along from here on out.  As much as I know you want to get this guy done, remember to not get in a rush and bugger things up (speaking again from personal experience  ).  Have fun shopping my good man!

Yeah I will pass on your request..lol.  You were spot on with the weather forecast, it was a gorgeous day.  However with one kid who broke a tooth with a sweetie on the way up, temperatures did soar throughout the course of the day.  Not the relaxing day I thought it would be lol.

Thanks Brian, yeah I will be taking my time and will continue to do research at every step and no doubt will be bending your ear again (Much appreciated Bud)..

So as I touched on earlier the trip to Glasgow was fruit-full albeit very stressful.

I managed to get about seven bottles of FW inks however they were out of stock on the likes of Raw sienna and burnt Umber so I will have to order these online.  I bought some more Liquitex gloss medium and varnish and about ten pots of various metallic colors for the Bio.  Went to Maplin electronics and bought all the Gubbins for the Tri laser system.

All in all very productive.  I almost cleaned out my budget my spotting a Passche H airbrush for £90, but decided to do a bit more research first before commiting.

Over the last week or so I have been beavering away at the belt, loincloth an side leg Armour.  It was made from cannibalizing about 5 different belts from Charity shops and car boot sales.

In the last picture the strap in the middle pulls out and this will let it hold a knife or suchlike.

So I am now waiting in anticipation of the Dreads arriving, should be here by Tuesday..

This is awesome Sean! Talk about a giant leap forward...I remember how happy I was when right before Christmas I won an iPad at work. As it is I have no desire or use for an iPad so I was able to return it to the store for a refund and that was what got me the silicone and resin in needed to finish my helmet mold and start casting. Looking good.

Things are really coming together. Nice work.
Thanks Jeff, it has been about a year and a half coming together and the end is in sight.  It,s mostly all painting now..and motivation..lol

I have started to work on the Bio, here it is sanded and ready for primer.  I am thinking two coats of primer and then a base coat of silver.  Really looking forward too the layering process.
