Sulaco1967 W.i.p First Build Competed

Woo Hoo...you have muscles!  Looks good Sean.  Glad the freezing thing is working out for you, and thanks for the update!

Brian

was looking at putting some texture between the muscles with polystyrene balls, however budget and lack of local supplier has forced me to think laterally...I am thinking of using dried peas..lol...think they will do the same job...

sean

Lol...Lol...Yeah I know I'm on a budget but peas bare with me....

I am very peased that you have taken time and consideratation to apeas the situation I'm in..

Peas be with you brother..lol

Sean

Another option, although it's a bit fiddly, is to get a hold of some Styrofoam (the white open cell packing stuff) and proceed to separate it into all the tiny little balls.  I started doing this due to a lack of a local supplier as well, and gave up because it got old pretty quick.  Me thinks the pea's will work good though!

Brian

i know in my local Walmart recently started selling bean bag filler by these large bags i think 10 bucks for a huge bag of the foam beads

Thanks for the comments Nik..cheers..

I am still planning to use the peas though, I am sure they will work, Pred budget is minimal just now and they are within my budget..lol

Have been working on the Deltoid muscles and am on third attempt. Have done some more research and have found out that the name originates from the Greek word meaning triangle. So third attempt is freezing as I write this...triangular shape no lessy and think it is looking good. Once they are in place the rest of the jigsaw puzzle will come together.

I suppose I'm giving myself more work than I have to as the muscles will be mostly hidden by armour. However if your going to do something, do it right and push your talents, it's the only way you will learn and develop your skills..Would love for build to be finished by July, however if not, no big deal...

Cheers

Sean

Sounds great Sean, and I agree...do it right or don't do it at all.  Sounds like it's a good thing you have plenty of foam.  Can't wait to see some new pics!

Brian

Here's is a pic of latest  progress, I have finally got the deltoids and biceps attached...

Have spent most of the day carving out the muscles around the neck area.  Have decided to go for some artistic license with this area, hopefully I can post up some progress tomorrow.

Cheers

I attached some more muscle detail today..

It is a very slow process as some pieces of foam depending on their density have to be  frozen over and over again, however I am finding the process very satisfying.  Am kinda 90% happy with the progress, however there are a few areas that are different from the opposite side.  This should not be noticeable...but i know they are there..lol...

Hah, I think all of us are our own worst critics.   :D   I think it's looking great.

But I think if I tried to wear that much foam in Florida, I'd melt into a bubbling puddle of wicked-witch goo.   :p

Thanks sir, glad you like. I have only been to Florida once, some 20 years ago. it was my first time abroad and feeling a different sun from Scotland. Jeez I could not believe the heat. I was a gothik punk at the time and had long hair..well I lasted two days and got it all cut off..lol

I have plans for ventilation in the suit and am leaving the crotch area unlatexed to get some air in about the said area. I have built a ventalation system for the mask and may adapt this further to the suit. Heat is worry...even in Scotland.

Cheers

I was in London a couple years ago, in August, and almost froze to death.     (Oddly enough, I was in Oslo the week after, and it was warmer there than it had been in the UK.)

I still tease my British friends by telling them I'm going to the beach today to soak up some sun--the "sun" is that big hot yellow thing that you may see in the sky once in a while and wonder what it is. . . .

We get lots of UK tourists here in Tampa Bay, and I can always recognize them even without the accent, because they are all fish-belly white and shine like spotlights. Tee hee. (In all honesty, I do feel sorry for them--they must sunburn terribly while they are here.)

I've never even tried latexing my suits---I'd melt within minutes.  So I've always used fabric skins and painted them. And even then, I try not to be in them for more than an hour or so at a time.

Finally jumping back in on this...looks like a lot of good progress Sean. I have been absent for a little while as you know soi am trying to catch up on a few of the builds I have been following and I must say it looks great! I am really curious how it will look with the latex on it as I am looking at doing a similar process when I start my suit. Keep up the good work and thanks for the poke!  ;)

The big yellow thing in the sky Lflank have know idea what your speaking about..lol

Good to see you back on the boards Steve, taking some respite from the Wonka factory..lol.

I managed to finish off the arm muscles today and the lower arm muscles, the name escapes me what they are called. Freezer is full of leg muscles now having soaked them four times to get them solid for sanding.

I really wish I had marked out the location of joints on the suit before putting on the dummy. I am having to measure and hopefully have got it roughly right. I have these visions of finishing the suit and finding that a muscle lie right over a joint and apart from looking out of proportion it will put stress on paint job.

He ho it's all a learning curve..

Thanks for the comments

cheers
