Suicide Squad

I'm going to reserve judgment. I never thought Keaton could be Batman, I never thought Cruise could be LeStat and I never thought Ledger could be a Joker. I was pleasantly surprised by all of those. I say never judge a book by the cover. Lets just wait and see.

Yeah, but you gotta admit: the cover for this book looks...somewhere between "pretty shabby" and "OMG I can't wait for the RiffTrax on this." ;)

I get that people want to reserve some judgment but I also get why people are hating this. A lot of us expected an amazing comic book accurate Joker for a change. Just like Batman we haven't really had an accurate life action Joker, they've done some great versions, but I hoped that, given how amazingly Marvel has pulled off comic book accurate characters, they finally realized that us fans don't want the "director's version" of a character, we just want the character, in a realistic version that fits the universe, yes, but the character in essence, not this gangster looking/shiny suits wearer/flashy Joker.

With all the leaks we realize the director doesn't really care at least for a visual accuracy at all, and while Jared Letto is an amazing actor and will no doubt do the best he can with what he's given, you don't really have a Nolan-Ledger combo, where the director gives the actor some great lines and setup and the actor is free to passionately perform. I saw something similar with Man of Steel. Henry Cavill does amazingly well. He is the perfect Superman and he definitely nails the nice-but-still-intimidating personality that Superman is supposed to have, but the movie never really gives him one single spot to really shine.

Hopefully I'm wrong and hopefully this pulls off a Guardians of the Galaxy where the changes are so welcomed that even translates into the comics, but I just don't see how that could happen right now.

Okay, so Jared Leto: great actor. But he looks like an old woman playing Joker, or the skull mask kid from Nightmare Before Xmas. Really not feeling it still. Again.

I really like the clothes and car but I cant get over the blah make up and tattoos. But man you nailed it with the face!

Interesting tidbit, Joker's new ride is an Infiniti G35 with a body kit. It's actually a legit kit that can be purchased for a mere $11,000 on top of the donor car. eMa Motorworks out Florida builds these. To me it looks like it could be in Tron.

Somehow I alwas pictured the joker driving an ice cream truck or something. Not an Immaculately clean custom car. Guess it could be stolen......

im with you on that. The joker should riding in a car that you can shoot or fire a rocket out of. His crew can't even ride in it on the way to the job. They could at least have a convertible top so that Harley can use her bakooka.

I see no reason to reserve judgement. Given Hollywood's track record, and the fact that I believe the Poochy episode of the Simpsons was more accurate than most documentaries, I feel comfortable believing that this sucks dog balls until someone I trust sees it and convinced me otherwise.

I'm with you on this. Mark two down for the...this film is going to "suck dog balls club"

If he has even a smidgen of acting talent, they shoulda hired this guy:

I thought the exact same thing! Ledger's Joker was the "real world" version... we don't need an even more "realistic" attempt at the Joker, all tatted up and gangsta. Go back to his roots and get a bit more comic looking. That cosplayer looks like he jumped right out of the cartoon, but in a very real way.

Well, he played the character in this:

This version of the Joker seems like a street thug that was given some cash and needs to show how cool he is immediately, the sort of character that the actual villain later kills and uses as a pawn. The suit, the tattoos, the grill, the car, it all points to a dimwit given power.

DC is dropping the ball on this one, i just saw one of their latest animated movies and suddenly those have started to stink too. It's like they lost their magic touch with the animation end of things.

i hope not, since I always saw the joker as a guy who was always 1 step ahead of everyone expect batman. So I hope he is playing stupid and using the DE or government.

Out of curiousity which one?

And y as already discussed in the animated thread they have gone a little bit downhill altho son of batman and batman vs robin were enjoyable they were not of the same lvl as lets say under the red hood.

Take the most distinctive and interesting villain in comics, a wildcard, by definition and turn him into your stereotypical born-to-lose crook.
Another reason why comic properties need to be handled by comic readers - not auteurs who want to use the characters as a platform for their own vision - which is never as original than they want to believe.
