Suggestions needed: TOS Battlestar Galactica

Hey guys, does anyone have a good suggestion for a base colour for a TOS Battlestar Galactica? I'm on my third colour iteration and haven'y liked any of them. Too light, too dark, an annoying blue cast to the grey. Someone suggested a 50/50 mix of vallejo USAF light grey and white and that looks too creamy.

Any ideas would be most appreciated!

These seem to be the general consensus on the TOS BSG models FB page. Several members of that page worked on the series so I'd take that as accurate.

It really depends on your personal preference. Tamiya primer was suggested but to me, didn't look like the way it appeared 'on screen'.

I went with Model Master camouflage grey:
