Suggestions? Dying plastic brush bristles

I've been asked to comp up a prototype brush for work and they want the bristles of the scrub brush to match a teal wash cloth. The bristles I'm supposed to use are some sort of synthetic material (white) that doesn't take any sort of dye (I've tried a few).

The comp will need to be durable enough to take some light use so I would expect most traditional paints to be out as they'd probably flake off.

Any ideas?

I tried that in hot water but all I got was a very washed out version of the teal. Does it need repeat applications to build intensity?
