Sucker Punch: The worst movie I've seen in the last five years!

I seriously doubt this film is going to suddenly gain attention as a great movie that was initially misjudged in the coming years. The Thing and Blade Runner gained cult followings because they were (and still are) amazing works of cinema.

No, it just took people twenty years to get Blade Runner.
Which is how long it'll take you to get Sucker Punch, I'm guessing.

I also thought it had great potential but it just was not an enjoyable watch. Way too dark and sadistic. Negative.

My wife and I both enjoyed the film, though, as Treadwell said, it was dark. That said, I found the end to be uplifting; Sweet Pea's escape put her through a personal hell in which she lost her sister and friends. Yet in the end, life goes on, and she can begin anew. We've spent a lot of time discussing the message, who the movie was really about, etc.

Most misjudged film since The Thing and Blade Runner in 82.

See you in 20 years naysayers.

I have enjoyed Snyder's work for years.
Hot women.
Great weapons.
Giant robots.
Lots of action!

It had the perfect storm of chemistry in everything I love in a movie.

In 20 years even people who have seen it will not know what you're talking about when you remind them.

Wake up.

It would have been nice if Sweet Pea was better developed. I really didn't care for her at all since she was the standard angry grumpy character, so when all was said and done, I was like, "oh, um... ok". I think it would have been better if Rocket was the one to escape, since I actually liked her character and she had a more fleshed out relationship with Babydoll.

The previews seemed like they were trying to cram every fanboy's fetish and wet dream into one movie. It seemed to me like a geek shake down for lunch money.

Hell even Kill Bill was the same way. Machine girl all the way!

I liked it - it certainly made a flight brtween Beijing and Hong Kong pass quickly and the soundtrack is pretty good too.

I jusy finished watching this worthless piece of crap. It cost me a dollar at Red Box. I want my dollar back AND the last two hours of my life! I would give more details as to why I hated this movie but that would require investing more of my life into this movie than it deserves.

That is all.

YES.......I am not alone in this thought.

So so so, very very very, very late to this one :lol

This was one of the movies that did not even peak an iota of my interest when it came out.

However, the replica dragon lighter in the JY a few months ago, I decided to get the movie. Great looking prop, must be something in the movie.

When I got it and saw the cover, many 'ummms & errrms' went through my mind.

It's been just sitting there since.

.... till half an hour ago, when I plucked up the courage to stick in the DVD.

I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes :lol :lol :lol :lol

Looked up a related thread here, & glad to see I am not alone :lol

:sick:sick:sick:sick
(n)thumbsdown(n)thumbsdown

Armando, I love you even more now :lol

Got to see it a while ago, and I think Snyder should stop watching certain films, reading magazines or visiting certain websites and meet some real women and actually observe and listen to what they have to say.

Tried to continue, but gave up :(

Giving it to the youngest. Right up his alley, but definitely not mine.

Sorry to harp, but I'm 'angry' at myself for having actually bought the DVD :lol

Worst Movie ever since the new Charlie's Angels, as for Avatar, Avatar wasn't that bad, it just had too much to look at in a single movie, just like the transformers movies, too much information onscreen going on, the battles were too chaotic, too dancy, transformations were too technical, missed the mass-shifting stuff.

Sucker Punch was too arrogant to swallow, too girlie girl, too "Spice Girl wanabee" kind of age 16 type of crap.

In the Netherlands, some people call it "Breezer Girl" kind of crap.

As a counterpoint to all the "SuckerPunch is crap" crowds, I feel I have to come out in defense of this movie.

I won't go into all the standard commentary that many defenders get into, such as "well you must be too dumb to get it." While there are some people who indeed fit that stereotype, I have this thought that those people who spend their spare time figuring out how things are made and creating replicas of them are not in the least bit unintelligent.

That said, this movie is not for everyone. Yes, it panders to the male teenaged crowd with the girls basically in bordello clothing or Sexy Fighter Chic throughout the movie, but if one can get past that, the movie is (to me, anyway) quite deep as well as (and I've been demonized for saying this, but I believe it to be true) both sexist and extremely feminist in nature.

Some articles with analyses of the movie:

yes, because a thought provoking original movie sucks way more then a remake.:rolleyes

I'm hearing that said in Bane's voice from Dark Knight Rises, for some reason, and it makes it all the better.

I'm a Sucker Punch fan.

Originally it wasn't what I expected but I thought it was a fun flick. Plus, I used to date a dancer...and a crazy chick...so...I could relate. hahah
