Studio Scale TOS Enterprise(11.25 feet)

If you watch about 20 seconds into this video, you'll see something interesting propped up against the rear wall.

War of the Worlds TV Pilot, Part 2

Bet it's the original, and what's on the 11 footer now is a newer part made to accommodate the lighting.

This pilot was filmed in 1975. By that time the Enterprise had been at the NASM a year. So, this is NOT the nacelle currently on the model. I wonder where it is now?

I was wondering about that too, why that nacelle would be there and not on the ship.

There's also this shot, which looks to me to have the recess.

Awesome find Mage66! Too bad we can't see the front of the nacelle, but at least we do know that it's the starboard (right) one.

However, the video also shows Pal handling the "Aurora" (modified Tholian ship). I seem to recall pictures which show when the Enterprise was donated to the Smithsonian in 1974 where you can also see the Tholian ships in the background, if you look carefully. This seems to indicate that not only the Enterprise, but the Tholian ships were also donated in 1974.

So if the Tholian Ships were at the Smithsonian in 1974, and George Pal is seen handling one in the video, is it possible that the film was actually shot as late as 1974, perhaps just before the models were donated?

The film picqued my curiosity, and an internet search found many sites that say that the film in question was made in 1975, but others say "circa 1975" and yet others say "20 years after War of the Worlds" - which would mean 1973. The year does not appear to be confirmed.

What do you think guys? Occam's Razor? (The simplest explanation is usually the right one)

Unles this grid it's a replacement (Smithisonoan restoration runing in this set of pictures) and not the original.

Is this other piece os just the strip from the other side?

Hi Max, I talked with you a bit during one of our video chats a couple of weeks ago, I just joined the RPF recently to help me with my research on scale modeling projects, I have stayed away from forums for the most parts as they do take away from my building time. Anyways enough of me, I must say you are very talented in what you do and I am floored by what I see from your work, I will be following this closely and I hope we can meet up one day for lunch, its not a problem to drive up from Tucson. I love your blog too, and thanks again for what you do for our hobby. Its truly amazing!

to jerry Lee Kirk when you see this i would like to talk with you about what you have posted on your page of the star ship plans that you are looking for to. get a hold of me please.

The box of the last TOS ENterprise use the Kerr plans, and the drawings (CGI) in the box are made with the Kerr plans.

I supose you could scan the box and get the measurements.

Absolutely cannot wait.
It may even inspire the Smithsonian to give the old girl another (non-Miarecki) restoration when they see what an 11 foot Enterprise "should" look like. :)

Well I guess it did since the old girl is getting a makeover now.
Any news about this particular 11 footer?

Hope all is well.
