stormtrooper helmet questions

hey everyone, my mom has been bugging me about what i wanted for christmas and ive kind of been wanting a stormtrooper helmet, so a couple of days ago i found one on ebay that was only $50, and knowing what they usualy go for i jumped at the chance to get it and told my mom that that would be something i would want so she bid on it and eventualy won it for $105. the listing only showed 2 pictures of it and the description only said that it was an ANH kit that he got and never finished. i dont realy mind if its not 100% accurate and i know ill have to do some work on it, but i was just wondering how good it is and maybe who made it if anyone knows. any information on it would be greatly apriceated.
thanks.

cant tell too much from those pics. Its def not one of the better ones. But it doesnt look liek an FX or GFX to me.

if your just collecting the helmet, id say its good enough, especially if you liek it. Thats all that matters anyway.

Its a fx.
As with much else in this hobby its prob best to do your research before purchasing a kit/helmet.

if u like tk helmets; spending a bit more could get u a nice screen accurate one. Check out star wars helmets.com

To me, it looks more like modified Don Post Deluxe helmet. The eyes just seems too far apart and the top too squashed to be FX; unless is the newer FX kit, which I'm not familiar with.

If your mom hasn't sent the money yet, then I would say save it and apologize to the buyer so you can get a better bucket.

I'm not sure if CAP still makes helmets, but those looked far more accurate and were far cheaper than all the other good quality castings, like TE's. I mean, if you have the money, then get the best. But if you're like me and other expenses take priority, then look ask around for a CAP helmet.

Here's mine, which I made into a Sandy...

And trust me guys, I don't want to start a whole debate over recastings and where CAP's helmets oriiginated. I know some people were angry with him; but in his defense, he did sell his lids for a very affordable price which is what I needed at the time. Low enough that I bought two from him. So please don't rip me apart for suggesting this.

thanks for the info everyone, this is my first stormtrooper helmet so i just wanted one that i could put some work into and make it look the way i want it to, im not realy looking for accuracy or anything, so i think itll be fine for what i want it for.
again, thanks for the info on it

Yes this FX lid will be fine to display or wear right up until you start to see all the inaccuracies and wish you bought a decent version, very slightly better is the MR cheap version then it is a choice of the more accurate screen derived versions, all copies to some degree.

Please post photos of the final version you end up with. Would like to see what you do with it.

Don't buy from recasters if you want to make sure new cool stuff is brought to the hobby, regardless of how cheap it seems to you. You are clearly not considering the consequences.

If you want good quality, cheap stuff, go with AP - you can get one of his seconds for less than the regular kits.

Oh, I was just speaking generally. I have no clue whether the one you bought is a recast or not. It's not an accurate style helmet. I was just suggesting that if you want to go accurate that you buy from the right people. :thumbsup

well the helmet came in today and im kinda disapointed. not even going to say why cuz its pretty obvious, so here it is...
hopefully i can fix it up to where it looks decent.
please give me any imput or advice youve got, im going to need it

the weirdest part of it is that the lines running down the front of the face are made of wood and glued on using hot glue, i thought id just mention that cuz its hard to tell in the pics

Wait...

That helmet has WOOD on it?

Dang dude. Ship that sucker back! GET A REFUND! Save your money for a few months and get an AP "Seconds" kit. You can get one for kinda cheap, and half the fun and pride in a TK bucket is building it!

i was thinking about it but decided id just gonna keep it, but compleatly take it apart and redo the entire thing from scratch. hopefully with some work itll look nice

Honestly mate, I would save your time and effort. Use the time to do a bit of research then, as advised above, get a more accurate lid uch as an AP second if you have budget constraints.
