Steve Sansweet Leaving LFL in 6 months...

Just read on Rebelscum that Sansweet is bugging out of LFL. No idea what he'll be doing next but he'll be missed among the fans. :)

you know he will still be around doing cons and writing books. He never has to buy anything SW related these days , so he'll stay close.

Got his email a couple of days back, actually; was kinda shocked, but all good things come to an end.

I gotta wonder if there's a great opportunity elsewhere, or if there's a bit of fatigue involved.

Maybe he just got tired of being the voice of Lucas' bullsh%$. Sorry to be blunt, but the way Steve tried to sell the original unaltered versions of the classic trilogy was so gut wrenchingly insulting that I'm surprised he even did the event at all.

How do you sell something with these specs that are compiled with DVDs that you most likely already own?

- 1993 Transfer in Non-Anamorphic 4x3 Widescreen
- 2.0 Audio

And that's it. He actually had the galls to say that this was some of the best looking video he's ever seen for a DVD, from 1993!

And I'll tell you what else makes this even worse. Anyone ever watch the "Empire of Dreams" documentary on the making of the saga? Remember the scene where it actually showed the original, un-altered scroll that lacked the Episode number and title? That was showcased in the documentary IN ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN!!

So good riddance to such a job. Steve looks and sounds like an extremely nice guy so I hope he can take part in something that doesn't require him to try and convince smart individuals that Lucas' bullsh*# is the best thing ever.

God, he's that old? I'm getting old myself, I guess. I remember reading his first book way back in the day..."prophetic and toyetic" was the phrase he used, if I recall? Great book.

hey hes a nice guy but what did he really do???????

I'm kind of with you on this. I mean, the guy knows SW toys and products, okay. He knows a lot about SW, okay. But really. Was this really a paying gig??? I've seen Mr. Sansweet a more conventions that I care to count and many times listened to him talk and there was nothing impressive about any information he gave.
So what exactly was his job title?

Probably taking abuse from angry SW fans so Lucas didn't have to lol. Sorta like Batman having Robin around everyone needs a sidekick to use as a target.

Steve is or was, the PR lead for LFL. He is a great guy and it's kind of going to be weird to not see him as a part of LFL again. Guess this means he can just focus on what he really enjoys doing; collecting.

lol I remember the first time I met Steve was at SWW and I was wearing the 501st shirt for that year's SWW event and as soon as he saw me, he just stared, clearly focused on the shirt. Didn't say anything for a moment and said "I want that shirt!!" Great guy, very nice and outgoing for the fans, especially the 501st

Oh yeah it's a paying gig...

The first time I met Steve was back in 2002 when I visited the Ranch to hash out the details for the R2 Builders involvement in C2...He and several others were officing there in one of the on-site bungalows.

I also had the honor of visiting his home and seeing his amazing collection the next day. The pictures that are floating around the web simply don't do it justice. It's an AMAZING place.

Nice guy...I wish him all the best in the new endeavor...(whatever it is)

Jason
