Greetings fellow prop enthusiasts!!
I posted this build over at the lightsaber forums (TCSS, FX, etc) and wasn't really sure but thought some of you over here might find it interesting as well...:cool
I present to you....
CHRONOS
This was a fun build with *many* occasional moments of frustration :angry:cryand cursing. :angryDuring this build, the cram-fu was severely tested (*ALL* the electonics and the slip ring are housed in front of the choke section). One battery is located in the choke and the second is in the rear hilt on top of the battery meter.
The front shroud is a brass graflex replica with a lot of watch parts and elements incorporated into it. The design of the shroud was inspired by Master Slothfurnace’s Derelict. On the top of the shroud is a (non-working) small watch element and on the underside is a mesh-lined emitter port. The choke area is covered by a gold weathered watch band. In the pommel is a lightly weathered real working watch element (inspired by last year's TCSS saberbuilding contest winner ISAMBARD). There’s a working battery gauge meter in the rear of the hilt as well. The activation switch is a mini toggle flip switch surrounded by a small motor stator bezel from a 2.5” hard drive.
SPECS
7.4 Li-Ion battery pack with appropriate PCB
Hyperdyne SaberSD sound card with Steampunk Soundfont by Eastern57
10W RGBW LEDEngin (R+G main blade, B+W FoC via powerextender)
DPDT toggle flip switch
Momentary accessory switch
Custom kill key
Momentary activated voltmeter
6 wire slip ring
GLAMS
Movie of the saber in action:
and the movie of the pommel watch element in action
Enjoy all!
