Steampunk GPS Device

I made this in about 5 days. Maybe it might spark an idea for something you're working on.

It's not from a movie, I just wanted to make it. Imagine the year is 1883 and explorers unearth an ancient device in Central America. It's discovered that the Mayans had invented their own directional compass/communication device - or GPS but used spirits instead of satellites to get the information. A 4-dimensional Astrolabe that also measures time, direction, even the user’s will. The inscriptions on the side would change from time to time– instructions and warnings from the user’s passed ancestors, speaking from the spirit world.

PS. if you happen to see any religious references on my page and have a question or want to comment about them, please email or PM me rather than posting about them so the thread doesn't get locked.
Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing it, and it may not be from a movie, but it SHOULD BE!!

Holy cow!:eek
I want one!

No, really!

That's a great prop, I don't know how I miss it before!
Great, great work!

Thanks! Yes it's Hebrew. I used a free Hebrew translator, then drew the characters on. There were several other, more creative ways I wanted to do this, but once I got going I became obsessed and couldn't stop thinking about it till it was done.

There's a very simple tutorial at the link. Some of you might cringe to learn that I scavenged my vintage Visible V8 Engine model for parts. :confused

Awesome job! Very creative. I will definitely take advantage of your tutorial and make something similar for a Halloween prop. Thanks for sharing
