started my under wire mask armature last night,(pix to come)

i was at the good will earlier today, i came across some mcgregor hind catcher shin gaurds, so i snatched them up, the three most amazing things are this 1)they are adult shin guards 2) they fit me 3) and this is the best part, they only cost me $2.10 after taxes were added, i was like dam those are mine, so now i have something to tinker around with aromor wise , little sanding, sculpting here and there, and some paint, should do the trick quite nicely. i'll update as i go along, hope to get started next day or two on the tinkering. later.

update, gonna start te plaster cloth part oftis drawn out wip. but i finally go my plaster coth (tuesday afternoon)

the plastercoth itself is from woodland scenics, it's 8 inches wide, and a total of 5 yards in total length. so my guess is maybe 2 - 3 at the most of the plaster under armeture could be mde, definately 2 if made thick and stout.. the rol cost me $9.99 pustax, i got it from hobby lobby, tok so long cause they wre out of stock , and just so happened to gt th last roll yterday. so the orange mock pred head, will be plaster clothed . so when i get this sorted out, i'l get back to you !

Hey Bane Whats up. Been slow on the mask updates ya got any pics? Its funny cuz I got the same WS plaster rolls. IF you can't find the hobby grade maybe you can buy the medical grade version. The cloth they use for them is stronger and tighter. Maybe u can try those instead and cheaper also. WS stuff is expensive. You may need to buy the medical plaster bandages in a bunch or box cuz you gonna need it for something that big.

The clay you add later on top of the armature will be very heavy so make sure u make the plaster armature very thick like 1 cm minimum. Make sure its very dry, put it in the hot sun. You can also spray a clear coat over the plaster form (after its dry) to prevent the Oil from the oil clay seeping down to the plaster. Also you can clean off the oil clay after molding and reuse the clay again. Good luck.

koool thank for the tips, i used the plaster cloth from ws, andso far so good, with the plster ameture, it will still need inner support, so i'm going to cut out some 1x1 supports for it, then i'll add the rest of the plaster cloth tomake the tinkened finishe armeture. i will be addin pix in while, just been busy doing this and that. as for sulpting ny bio's, i will use his armeutre as an overall hea size, and then draw around the and off the edges of the armtur wt a bio form, (i will call thisa bio form line.)

so after the support legs are cut and screwedto the armeture, and the rt of the plaster cloth laid and smoted out, the armeture should be just under a cm, adten i'll just mix a really wet plasterpaste and rub that on the armeture, ad this layer shld give me a decet thickness to start any scuplts on, as well sturdy it up alot more. again thanks for the tutorial on this easy, and any and all the tips you have shared. now thinking to myself, where to begin laying cay, lol!

When the plasterform is ready Add clay! ha! ha! Now go sculpt and spend less time on this thread unless ya got updates. Good luck

in time, i'll add clay, i'm in no hurry to do this. , thanks for all your advice, and tips and tutorials, appreciates them all, i have learned alot about this particular hobby. but or now i'm not ready to scuplt have my mind set on other things at present.

couple days ago i started on my left gauntlet, first with sketched out scale drawings of the comp itself, then from those com pix i started my build, so far thi what i used to build the gauntlet armeture as i'll call it. i found an old exacto-knife box, looks to be the right length and width, it has a flip top lid on it, which i wont be using, just used the box for a form , on that form i wrapped it with plaster clothumder the plaster cloth i used the familar pringles can and plastic craft mesh for the form for the forearm. on the exacto lnife box i put 2 old vhs cardboard boxes into themselves making them solid on the open sides. taped this peice to the wrapped exacto box form, in the front ofthe ameture i placed one of my old glueclose tablet tubes, and wrapped it with plaster concealing in the plaster wrap, in the rear of the armeture, i had a squared end, i took scrap plaster cloth and began my slopped and slightly wavey peice, once the plaster cloth was blended to form the angle i wanted i enclise a few glue sticks for the form and th waves, as the plaster cloth heated up (from the plaster) i formed the wavey rideges with my fingers and putty knife (4 inch one) then i let it sit for the last couple days to dry, not using the oven inces i ws to melt the plastic parts in the armeture. and alittle while ago (couple or three hours) i took the dried form, and sketched my gauntlet ?armor design on to it, for future sculpting references.

no pix yet, but hope to have some soon, so far i just have the plain armeture, now just need to get some good clay and and block it up, and then cut away the un-wanted sections. once i have it finished i may use the one to make both gauntlets, with a varying additional sculpts for the blade gauntlet. well so far that's what i've been doing this week, if this particular prototype design doesnt suit me, i'll try another approach. and if the second prototype works the old armeture will be scrubed and donated to whomever wishes to use it for their build up but we'll see how my mid's eye likes it so far. i'll be in touch. wih a fitire update of current armeture and hopefully with pix, as well any scrubbing news of said armeture. later fellow preds and yautuja.
