Two separate members... and Juno is a "her".

Hi Tif! :lol

Here is the first 3D render ready for the machines... And this model was provided by (drumroll) LeMarchand!
I did the original model, and the graphics for the engravings, he combined the two, and ta-dah!

The "hard edges" will be smoothed out during the machining process, so, don't worry...
Stay tuned for further details! ;)

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

Rite now i'm confused, ramiel, are you replica props or Juno or are you machining your own pendants?

If so, how much for one made of silvery metal?

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

That's a great looking model! What do you have planned for the reverse?

I think Jon mentioned that the size of his replica was a bit large and I think getting the size is very important and should be a bit smaller than his replica. The other thing I see is the cross section being thinner than most replicas I've seen of this being done before as well as the bevel on the edge. Most have the bevel being "fatter" and more rounded wereas the movie version appears to have almost a sharp, angular edge... at least to my eyes.

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

ok, here's the finished 3dmodel. Ramiel supplied the engraving and the 3dmodel. I completely redid the model to make it more accurate and used his artwork to make the engravings.

Since 35mm indeed looks to be too big and 25mm too small, we did a diameter of 30mm, which looks to be a good size.

Is it known what is on the other side? Or is it the same image as the front.

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

Wasn't it flat on the other side - the pendant only having a front, which would make sense for a necklace. should probably check out the movie before commenting... but still.

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

LeMarchand, great looking model work and the side shot is more like what I'm talking about but looks like the bevel should still be a bit wider, at least from what I can see from the great hidef shots provided by defstartrooper.

The only scene that I recall it being turned over, or what appears to be turned over is when Dr. Jackson has been knocked out and Ra notices the necklace and picks it up to look at it. It appears he's turned it over but it's really hard to tell. I've always thought that the reverse was the same as the front.

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

I imagine it would be of the same style but different but i suppose in the absense of other pictures, you could just do the lines without the eye design

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

i'll fix the bevel tomorrow and after comparing the model a bit more to the screencaps, i think i'll make the loop for the string a bit wider too

if someone can check the DVD for the shot of the backside, that would be great. Ramiel and me will be tweaking the model untill we are all satisfied with it and then get it either CNC-ed or SLA-ed. Then i can sent a copy of the solid model to my foundry to make brass casts. I am also pretty sure i know what they used for the rings on the string.

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

can they make silvery metal casts too?

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

they also do aluminium and solid silver casts. Expect silver to cost a *****load though, that metal has become expensive.

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

how much dya think the alu ones would be? would only need to be thin

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

Here's a couple caps from the scene I was talking about. Sorry for the crappy caps, maybe defstartrooper can cap the scene. Watching it you can see he flips it over but it's so fast, the second cap shows what I think is the reverse and on screen I see what I think is a copy of the front, I think you can just make it out.

I know... not very definitive... :$

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

i have no idea, i will know more when they have the solid model and they can tell me how much it will be to make the molds and they can calculate how much metal goes into one of them. You could always have a brass one silverplated ofcoarse

Re: References needed "STARGATE" movie "Eye of Ra" pendant...

they have a lot of good contacts including platers, so i guess it can be done.
