Stargate found in scrapyard

Re: so who can explain exactly what these are? stargate fans look!

Yep, those look to be the molds from the Legends stargate licensed piece. Extremely accurate. Surprised they would find them like that, really shocked to see that in fact. I e-mailed him as well to explain how after they used the molds to make the replica stargates.

Really flabbergasted to see them dumped, you would not believe how much work went into making those.

To get my hands on 1 of those......

Re: so who can explain exactly what these are? stargate fans look!

Lightspeed I believe also made a 9 inch stargate way back that had a seperate base, so its possible that it could be molds from Lightspeed too.

With Legends still holding the license and their 9 inch Gate an open editon as far as I know, and I think the Legends piece the base is a cast part of it... I wouldn't think the molds would have been tossed (at least on purpose). If they are indeed from Legends or whatever company Legends used to produce their product; It could be the molds used to make the little gates for the mounted plaques if those were 9 inches in size.... i.e. the Gold Edition/Aniv Stargate, Piece of the original Gate Iris, etc.

My best guess is fill 1/2 with resin, close up and put it in a rotocastor. If you figure it out. I'ed be up for a cast or 2.... as I'm sure others here would be.

Looking at the detailing on the cnc molds, I have no doubt it is the Legends piece mold. Legends used a two mold process afterwards popping out the two molded pieces and then milling them down to be joined together. The center section of each molded piece was then milled out to provide for a steel band that was placed inside between the two halves to provide strength to the structure as well some weight. The two pieces where then attached together. This is why he is finding no pour holes in the molding. If you download the tif's, you will get an idea of the amount of detailing that went into these. Then read up on the process on the Legends site I posted above as to how they made the molds. ;)

THAT is one heck of a find.

I'm sure I'll thing of something, even if it's just making big-assed StarGate ice cubes to float in the punchbowl at the next Eccentric Manors soire.
That's the best part

I posed the question to him of a sale. We will see. Probable had many offers though

That is absolutely amazing, but was it a licensed collectible item or something? I've never seen anything like that.

I figured it was prop-related, not OT, so I didn't see the OT thread.

I'd always thought Richard Dean Anderson was taller than that, but whatever...

Besides the obvious prop interest, this line made the acticle worth reading. :)
