Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Pre-release)

100% agree, also totally devalues the whole “chosen one” from the prequels...

This is my biggest problem with him being back..
Not really. Anakin brought balance to the Force. The destroy the Sith stuff, was tacked on in ROTS. But then again Jedi masters straight up say they may have interpreted the prophecy incorrectly. It's also suggested in Star Wars Rebels that Obi-Wan now believes Luke to be the Chosen One. And additionally prophecies can have multiple fulfillments.

I'm not super thrilled about Palpatine being back. From the very little we have on it so far, it feels to me personally that it lessens the sacrifice of Anakin in RoTJ

I hear you. That's why I didn't care for the Dark Empire stuff. But for me, I've come to realize that Vader's sacrifice isn't "killing" the Emperor per se. But that he saved his son at the cost of his own life. You could have had offed any old Sith Lord and achieved the same outcome. It just happens to be that's it's Palpatine.

Plus I feel like its one of George's crazy ideas. And let's be honest, I'm biased when it comes to his crazy imagination.

They've said that this film is not only the end of this trilogy but the Skywalker saga. Therefore they have pieces from all 3 trilogies in the movie. It makes sense that Palpatine is in it in some form. Now, I don't want him to be there whole in body but if his ghost or negative energy or something is in a small part I'll be happy to judge it then. :)

How did he bring balance if he never killed the emperor?
I'd say the fact that Vader returned from the Dark Side is the deciding factor. As far as we know, he's the only one to have done that. Plus he eliminated the religious order known as the Sith. At least for the time being. And he destroyed the Emperor's physical form (most likely) and greatly diminished his power.

For me, if he's there to close the story, the Anakin needs to make an appearance for me.

I disagree. The whole point was he killed Palpatine to save his own son, which to me is lessened now it turns out he can just come back in some way.

Based on how much misdirection has been in the previous Disney Star Wars trailers, I hesitate to really draw any conclusions about the plot whatsoever from a 2 minute, highly edited snippet. Remember the TFA trailer that made Finn look like a Jedi, and the TLJ trailer that made Snoke seem important, Finn a traitor, and Kylo the one who killed his mother.

I’ll be ready in the theater, day one, to see how it all ends. I’m hoping there’s a satisfying conclusion to it all.

I'll admit the line from 3PO was deep since they have to wipe his memory in order for him to read the Sith language artifact. I just hate the fact hat Palpatine is back all of a sudden. Did Snoke not matter? Has Palps just been chilling on life support for 30 years?

Yep Snoke didn't matter. I've been saying that since TLJ, and theorizing that since TFA.

And this is my problem.. it’s cool that snoke doesn’t matter?

Is that fair to the fans?

Just a classic example of poor writing and no creativity
Zero back story, Zero introduction, Zero character arc, Zero plot relevance, Zero importance to the continuation of the story, Died like a chump, never mentioned again. Sounds exactly like someone who could take control of a fallen empire and rebuild it in such a short time. Great idea guys.

It's the idiotic Darth Maul precedent. No one is ever dead, in Star Wars after that. As I pointed out, the Emporer only fell down a seemingly bottomless pit. If Maul can survive being cut in half and fall down a bottomless pit, any stupid thing goes.

Boba Fett?

I mean, I don’t disagree that it’s the case with Snoke, but let’s not pretend it didn’t happen in the OT as well.
